Default Second Six speedloader.

Another old 1970's speedloader - the Second Six - not to be confused with the HKS Six Second loader.
The Second Six is very positive in seating the rounds into the cylinder, but is also probably the most fragile loader. A small flexible tab is all that holds each cartridge in place.

Is it carried with the "ring" looking thing on the top and then removed for loading or do you insert all the cartridges and then turn the ring and it releases them??

The ring is normally not removed. A thin lip at the end of each ... finger... holds the ring on the loader. I took it off for the photograph.

There's no turning; it's all push-pull.

Pull the ring to the rear/top, insert each cartridge, then push the ring to strip the cartridges into the cylinder.

Those are one of the brands that gave speed loaders the reputation of spitting cartridges all over if they were dropped. There is a good reason they aren't around anymore.
