I attend gun shows all over Mississippi and Western Tennessee and the lighting at these shows are terrible. I carry a powerful flashlight so I can see what I'm looking at. Does anyone else have this problem.

We pay the promoter an extra $10 per table to keep the lights low. Then we smear on vasoline so the scratches and minor rust pits don't show up. Now you go and try to destroy all our hard work?

I once bought a SAA on which the finish was really worn. When I got it out in the daylight I could see that it was a reblue that was really worn.

I have two buddies I go to the shows with and one has a light for that reason. We normally stay together so one light takes care of all three of us.

'Course we're all old and can't hardly see even outside! I gotta take my glasses off to see and Pat has to put his on.

Had one of these "gunshows for moles" just recently in a local casino. I was looking for milsurp rifles but there were only a couple there. Both could have had terminal woodworm and no rifling but there was insufficient light to tell either way.

I bought a "Cosmetically Challenged" Royal Hong Kong Police Model 10 at a small gun show held at a National Gaurd Armory some years ago. The lights were bad, I'd already spent my gun money, but on the way out the door, I spied that RHKP Model 10. Looked at it briefly, price was right ($250), in the poor light it looked like it had some holster wear, but not too bad. Took a card from the dealer, then went home....

Got to thinking about that revolver, in my minds eye, it became more and more attractive! By the time I had convinced myself to buy it, it looked like a brand new gun (in my mind)! I called the dealer up, paid for it over the phone by credit card, and made arrangements to pick it up at the next gun show, some weeks away.

Came time to get the revolver, I thought it was a totally different gun! Grips were dark and oily, heavy finish wear, typical police revolver. Looked nothing like I had "convinced" myself it looked!

Good news, it's one of the best shooting revolvers I own, the finish wear justs makes me use it more, no one will notice more scratches and wear.

Years ago at the shows in Wichita KS it was so dark on the outer rim that I kept a flashlight at the table.

Discovered that the flashlight really made the rust under cold blue stand out.

I know many places are installing new lighting that is saving them big bucks on the electric bills. The newer bulbs aren't as bright and the light isn't as harsh. But it does make it hard to see details.

Yup, I carry a flashlight to some of the shows around here.
Momma raised some dummies, but they was my sister....

A good powerful LED pocket light is part of my EDC. You can really see finish imperfections when you hit it with a blinding 230 lumens, it must be the wavelength of the LED because sometimes the little flashlight shows things that do not show even direct sunlight .

We need to team up and go together. It would kinda be like the blind leading the blind. Bet we could have a lot of fun, and irritate a lot of dealers.

That would work....and when I take my glasses off to see, you can wear 'em if needed!

I have carried a Fenix P2d LED for 3 years. The output varies from 7 to 180 lumens and the light is very white and this will show flaws. I paid about $50 for it but the CR123 battery will last over a year and it is built like a tank. I have dropped on a concrete floor and it still works.

You can find a good LED for less than what I paid, but I will buy this brand again.
