Default Tootsie Toys How Many Did You Have?

Occasionally I go onto ebay and peruse the "toys and models" section just to relive my childhood. This pic is from there.

I had this tank as a kid before I could remember where I got it. It was my favorite tank. I did not know until later that it was a copy of the M3 Grant/Lee tank of Early WWII American use.

For me it was my American WWI tank when "we" where in France with my toy soldiers playing WWI.

In my WWII "scenarios" it was a Japanese tank, since, to me it resembled some of their light tanks I had seen in my Dad's 6th MarDiv history book.

Of course I did not know the next pic of a Tootsie Toy existed. If I had known of it I would have wanted one. Then, when playing with my other toys in the bedroom, I wouldn't have to get up and go to the bathroom!!

Never had any tootsie toys that I was aware of as I was a cap gun kid... Lots of cowboys & Indians or cops & robbers.... Sometimes with my flintlock guns I would be Davy Crockett or maybe a pirate... Later, Dave

That tank is pretty cool. It kind of reminded me of the zeppelin my dad used to have and let us play with. It would zip along on an overhead string.

belairdave,

I had lots of guns too. I played anything from Gladiators and Roman soldiers to Korean War. If I didn't have a play sword or gun I made them out of wood stolen from my Dad's carpenter shop!!!

I had enough "782"gear, that's "web-gear" for you Dogfaces and Swabbies...to outfit two complete soldiers. My biggest problem was that at age 10 my little head inside the WWII helmet made me look like the radio man on a destroyer!!

Prior to WWII (1938-1940) I had a key wind up toy tank that as it ran the cannon spit fire and a soldier would pop up from the turret and fire a smg. Only one I ever seen.

Well lately it's been Smith&Wesson revolvers but I have a collection of 1930 and 40"s diecastcast aircraft of which 5 are Tootsietoy.
I consider them much like my guns, just makin me money.
