My first Cowboy Picture T-bar-V

I was going through pictures for my Dad's memorial service and found my first picture with Cowboys.

I was 5 and was on the T bar V TV Program in Louisville KY with "Cactus" and Randy Atcher. That would have been 1967.



Does anyone else remember these guys?

I lived in Louisville back then and watched it all the time.

Did you watch Presto the Clown on channel 41 too?

Oh Yeah! I was so excited when we got Channel 41! Something else to watch during the day except soap operas!

... it appears that Randy is wearing some fancy "spandex" cowboy pants.

T-Bar-V was a daily staple for us. Randy and Cactus were tops in our house. My wife attended Western Kentucky U. with Randy's son, Mark. Randy Atcher also hosted a weekly progam called "Hayloft Hoedown". It also had "Cactus" Tom Brooks. They had some great Bluegrass musicians such as Sleepy Marlin, Tiny Thomale, and "Shorty" Chesser.

Randy and Cactus are with that great big round-up in the sky.

Another daily feature at noon was "Uncle" Ed Kallay on WAVE TV-3. He hosted a program called "Funny Flickers". I ate many a PBJ sitting in front of the TV, and watching "Our Gang" and other comic movies.

They all went hand-in-glove with shows like "Howdy Doody" and "Pinky Lee"

PS - Cactus Tom Brooks' brother was Foster Brooks, who played the loveable lush on 70's TV.

Those are precious memories.

Cactus Tom Brooks and Randy Atcher! Wow, I haven't thought about them in years. And the Red River Ramblers. Randy's brother Bob Atcher was a pretty big star on the WLS National Barn Dance.

I grew up in Louisville, Ky in the 40's, 50's, and 60's. I was trying
to find one of Randy and Cactus's quotes today. Sorry to say that
there appeared to be an obituary online for Randy. I will have to go
back and see what it says:

I thought I recalled one of their quotes was: "If you can't say something
nice about someone........................................................"

I just forwarded a request to the S & W Historian yesterday
on an old S & W "lemon squeezer". I believe it was a first edition, but I am sure the letter will verify the info.

I hope the pic will attach to this. Me and the digital cam do not work well together. LOL
