Not going, I am working in Sarajevo. We are split down the middle in our house. Son and wife are Tigers, Future Daughter in law and I were born in the Heart of Dixie. No contest with Alabama's defense. Trent Richardson for Heisman!

We're looking foward to it but I hope the players are not, got some other games before then. Really should be a good one.
Check out ebay for some of the ticket prices.
Think I'll stay home and watch on the 46".

"All you Auburn guys-y'all start your own thread "

Interesting how 2008, 2009, and 2011 will come down to the 2 best teams in the SEC knocking one out to allow someone else in.

As far as chOklahoma: I guess the SEC's gotta beat somebody for the Trophy.

Not be TOO controversial, and admitting the SEC HAS won a preponderance of BCS Championship games... but...

Getting a little ahead of things, ain't ya, Cajun? Still a lot football left to be played. I have to represent the left coast here, and since my beloved Huskies aren't ready for that stage yet, I have to give a mention to the team I cheered for as a little boy, who have the best QB in the land, the Stanford Cardinal.

Not saying they're gonna win, not saying they aren't. I see the possibility of 5 undefeated teams at the end of the year. Stanford, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Boise State (who have no chance at the title game, nor should they) and the SEC winner, be it LSU or Alabama. I don't see a team from the Eastern conference winning the title game. But Auburn could REALLY throw a wrench in things if they were to beat both 'Bama and LSU. Do you put a 1 loss SEC team in the BCS title game ahead of an undefeated Oklahoma, Stanford, or Wisconsin??

Be interesting to see what all the computer rankings and strength of schedule comparisons are when the first BCS poll comes out. I'm fairly certain this won't be the last thread here on this subject, just as I'm certain I will be pooh-poohed for even bringing up a team from west of the Mississippi.

Y'all have a nice day now.

I won't be going, but my son will be in attendance for that game. Should be a good one..............for BAMA.

I will be rooting for LSU to rip the Gators a new one on Saturday though. That is the extent of my LSU rootability.

As much as I would like to attend the Iron Bowl, I don't live in the state any longer and it is tough for me to make the game. My son will represent......very enhthusiastically just as I taught him.

I know you have the grin there, but you can't really give any team too much grief on the day and time the game is played. It's all about the TV money. There aren't any other games on, so they get a better rating and share for the broadcast. Better ratings and higher shares mean the network can pay more money to the teams. Offer them more money to play on Friday and they'll play on Friday. Or Thursday. Besides, the games start so late on the East Coast it's not like anyone back there stays up late to watch them... And everyone in Texas is at a High School game on a Friday so they aren't watching either.

The big gripe I have about scheduling is that if you are going to schedule a quality opponent, schedule a home and home. One game at each location. I don't mean when somebody is paying a lesser team to come and get beat on for a payday; nobody expects Florida to go to UAB or Furman for a game. I mean a BCS conference opponent.

Big Ten and Big 12 teams come to the west coast, and PAC-10/12 teams go to the midwest. Have done for years. I'm actually getting kind of sick of playing Nebraska.

Miami came out to Washington in the 90's as their part of a home and home. So did LSU, in 2009. Texas came out to California to play UCLA this year. I'm sure there are other examples that don't immediately come to mind.

Maybe I'm talking out of my butt here, but when was the last time Florida or Auburn played an out of conference non-bowl game west of the Mississippi? It hasn't happened for at least 8 years. Both Washington State and USC went to Auburn for games in that span - where is the return match out west? For at least the last 8 years the only non-conference away game Florida has played is Florida State or Miami. I suppose it could be argued that their conference away games are so tough that they don't need to go elsewhere. But it would be nice to see them travel just a bit. It must be nice to have your longest road trip be a 2 hour flight.

I'm not trying to start a flame war, or anything like that. I don't talk trash or get in anyone's face about their team. Not even Oregon Duck fans. I try to give respect to people about their allegiances and hope they do the same back. It's just that it's always bugged me when a team schedules three cupcakes for home game beatdowns so they get halfway to bowl eligibility without hardly trying. I'm irked that Washington played a FCS school for the first time this year. Up until now, only USC, UCLA, Notre Dame, and Washington had never scheduled a FCS team.

Thanks for letting me get my peeve off my chest. Sorry to be so long-winded.

Probably be the best game of the college year. I hope the winner then plays Wisconsin in a bowl game, which ought to ge a good game too.

As for your first question, that's the rub. BSU isn't deserving of a home and home with a traditional powerhouse school. Their stadium has about 2/3rds the capacity of the smallest SEC school. If BSU REALLY wants to play the "big boys" they need to pack their bags and take their licks. AND more than just once a year.

AU started the USC series AT USC in 2002. Our OOC games have been more geographically local. It makes more sense.

Thank you for the USC-AU info. I could only find schedules that went back to 2003. I stand corrected.

I do understand your point about stadium capacity. If you are going to play away from home, you want a large venue to maximize the revenue. That makes fiscal sense. But when has fiscal sense (or common sense) stood in the way of a good college football rivalry discussion?

I thank you for your reasoned, well-put responses. I'm sure there will be further discussions as the season progresses. I look forward to them.

Alright boys play nice.
I may have to check out stubb hub to see about getting a couple of tickets to a Boise State game. Would be Way Cool to see a blue field in the flesh and I would be able to cross off Idaho on my list of states still left to see. A two'fer for sure!

I thought we were playing nice...

The field at BSU doesn't hurt your eyes as badly in person as it does on TV. But if you are accustomed to an SEC sized stadium you're in for a shock. It holds fewer people than Vanderbilt's place.

If you want to go to a nice place in Idaho, go to Coeur d'Alene, not Boise. Great resort on the lake there. Wonderful golf course.
