Now we're talking about dreams? I hate those dreams that are scary and so real where you end up hoping you are in a dream but sure you aren't. Then finally you wake up.

I don't pretend to understand it, call it premonition, sixth sense, first sniff - whatever, but from time to time I've had the sense that something wasn't right and always had the good sense to act on it or leave. The Chief of Department, being a grunt in the Vietnam era and as he has said "stumbled into the war as a 19 year old, knowing everything" came away with life 101 expierence always said " A Gunny Sergeant once told me three ways to stay alive. First rule - in combat, your first sniff is generally right - something doesn't feel right it's not. Second - check six. Third - always carry a BUG and a Kbar."

I don't carry a Kbar but I do sniff, check six and carry a bug.
And, yep, there has been times that sense of evil is close and the hair is standing up.

I have never been one to believe in mythical or supernatural things. If I don't see it with my own eyes I am usually suspect. Until I see a ghost or bigfoot or a ufo I'm not biting. With that being said I do believe there are spirits that roam this world. I think there are evil ones that cause bad things to happen. I remember once listening to the scanner at work and hearing three cardiac arrest occur two counties away. Next there were a couple or three in the county next to me and the three happened in my county and then finally in the next county down the road. It was like something was moving through the area and causing these deaths. I know some of you other public safety guys have noticed some days seem to have a theme to them. Yesterday was car accident day around here. Some days are chestpain days and some are overdose days. It seems like some days you can just feel what is comeing. I believe there are good spirits as well. When I first built my new home it was a cold place, not temperature wise but had a foreboding feeling to it. After we moved in and spent a few days there and praying about it the feeling changed completely. Its now a peaceful place and there is no other place I would rather be. I guess when it was first built there could have been an evil spirit to the land or perhaps no spirit at all. Now that the home is inhabited by a god loving and god fearing family I think it is protected by a good spirit.

Durring world war two my mother heard the negro spiritual, "Oh dem golden slippers" playing on the radio. She walked through the rooms to shutt off the radio and none was playing, yet she kept hearing the song!
She instictivley knew Eldon her brother in the 82nd glidders must be in trouble. At that time she wasnt real religious, (That came latter) but she got down on her knees and prayed for him. Nothing was heard for a long time. Latter when they got together and compared notes they found that at that exact time he was severly wounded when his glider was crashed, only he and one guy out of 14 in his glidder wasnt killed. He busted his back, smashed his face in and his buddy and him watched as the germans finished off all the rest. They had to hide out for several days and nights and watched from a haystack the germans gun down a farmer and his daughter that had helped them!
We dont understand these things, but I belive in them!
I have only had 3 or 4 nightmares in my life. I had one where I was walking on my rounds high up on a balcony at night time at work when this guy that I knew who was a janitor there jumped out of the dark, swinging a iron bar on me and snarling not careing I was armed and kept comeing. I pulled my revolver but it wouldnt fire. I woke up. I had nothing against the guy in the dream. Later I told my buddy about the dream. He was also a guard with me and knew him better than I did and told me that was a evil guy that was into satinism, black magic etc. I hadnt known that. I think there is something to all that.
Another time I had a close friend that I worked with in yosemite in 1960. About 5 years later I was driveing through clinton missisippi where he told me he was from. A co worker was traveling with me and I decided to pull over to a resturant and see if I could find him in the phone book. After finding a relative or two I got his number and him. He says wait there and I will come. While waiting I told my partner, I dont know why, but I have a real funny feeling about him. He showed up, looked thin and pale. He said this is the first time I got out of the house in close to a year. I was in a bad accident, in a comma for about 6 months and today is the first time on my feet!

seems like some people learn the hard way to trust the voice inside us that says don't go there today, or get out of there quick. most memorable experience from me was when i was 16. My sister had just graduated high school and was going to our mothers' house to get some of her things since she was moving out on her own. i had a bad feeling and told her i did not want to go with her to help cause something bad would happen and we should wait until the next day. After arguing for an hour i finally gave up and went with my sister to help load up some things. on the way back to the small town where i was staying with my grandparents and my sister had rented a house we were passing by a small cemetery when a deeer came out of the trees struck the front bumper of the truck coming towards us, hit my sisters truck and came through the windshield and hit me . i think what saved me was partly my superstition that every time i pass a graveyard i take off my hat and as we were just passing the edge had my arm up putting my hat back on. that and wearing safety glasses instead of regular sunglasses. wound up with 5 staples in my arm lots of cuts and glass in me and a scar on my nose from where the glasses broke from the force of the deer hitting my. its an odd feeling having something brown and hairy hit you in the face that hard. left an impression in the seat of the bow and arrows that were behind seat. have heard voices that arent really there a few times and always puts me on high alert. sorry for the longwindedness

some good stories/experiences on here.

Back in the English county of Cornwall there are lots of places where "the bones of the Earth show through" as I call it. One vacation with some buddies part of the group decided to go and look at an old ruined tin mine while myself and the other guy continued our leisurely walk to the pub. The other three appeared a little later wide eyed and pale telling of the "awful quiet" up by the abandoned mine. They realised that the lack of birdsong was all wrong and described the light up there as "looking funny".

I am personally blessed/cursed with the ability to know when I need to see somebody urgently, usually for then last time. I also seem to know when it is the last time I shall see a person. My late wife's aunt is similarly gifted, or not depending on your point of view. The worst ones have been with a healthy friend and a family member who were pregnant, but I knew that the child will never see the light of day. That has happened twice, and it is twice too often. Sometimes it is just better not to know.

In my teens, I worked in a movie theater which was, for lack of a better word, haunted. Paranormal events happened so often that employees considered them no big deal. It sure was fun to watch new hires freak out, though. Eventually they would get used to it or quit.

I had a "BRAKES" moment like one of the previous posters. I slowed down as I approached the intersection on a green, and for some reason stopped. As I sat there wondering why I had done that, a car ran the red doing at least 80 in a 30 mph zone. I would have been t-boned in the drivers door.

As for "dead eyes", I was in line at a convenience store, and all of a sudden got a real uneasy feeling. Cold sweat, hair on end, eyes and ears went on high alert, and right hand went into my front pocket to rest on my ever-present 642; all without any conscious thought on my part. I looked around directly behind me and saw the dead eyes two positions behind. I knew they were there before I ever saw them. Two of them, and they looked like these guys.
Wichita Massacre
I got out of there toot-sweet.

I have one occasion that comes to mind. I was maybe thirteen. I used to cut through the desert to get to and from school everyday. Well this guy bought the property and started building an apartmet complex right next to my wall that id jump at the start and finish of the days journey. after a few months he would bring his full grown doberman( which was just as big as me!) with him during the day and let him roam around. I remember one day i was just barely comin up to that familiar wall and a voice in the back of my head shouts out "DOG". Kinda confused about it i turn around and see this huge dog come around the corner!!!! Needless to say ive never jumped a wall so fast in my life lol! That dog eventually got put down for. Attacking some other kid a few years later.

Very important that folks read the link Rugskipper put up on the horrendous crime known as the the Wichita Massacre.

That is proof positive that evil walks among us every day.

Stay safe everyone!

A story not of evil, but of goodness.

My paternal grandmother died when my father, the oldest of eight children, was ten years old. They lived on a small farm in a very rural area. The only church was a small Lutheran church which served the farming families in the area without regard for denomination. My grandmother had been married before and had left her husband to marry my grandfather, a scandalous thing at the turn of the century before WWI. The "ladies" of the congregation went to the minister and opposed him preaching my grandmother's funeral, using the excuse that she had never been properly baptized. The minister said that he could not, in Christian faith, refuse to preach a funeral for anyone. The "ladies" were very upset and stated talking about leaving the church, having him removed as pastor, etc. The pastor reached a compromise by agreeing to preach her funeral in front of the church but not inside. They day of the funeral was a bright, sunny Kentucky day, not a cloud in the sky. As the buckboard wagon pulled up in front of the church with my grandmother's casket, a light shower of rain fell and the drops could clearly be seen on the pine boards of the casket. Nothing else was wet, not the people standing outside, the mules pulling the buckboard, or the dirt around the front door of the church. The preacher looked at the church "ladies" and said that since the good Lord had seen fit to baptize my grandmother, he was going to preach her funeral inside the church, and anyone having a problem with what he and God were doing was welcome to leave and not come back. My father said that the "ladies" never uttered a word as their husbands carried my grandmother's casket inside the church.

I had a shirtail relative that arrested the killer-cannabal ed gein in wisconsin in the late 50s. I talked with him about the case one afternoon shortly before he died around 1980. It was more gruesome than the books on it. Ed kept woman body parts hanging in the house, had the last victims liver in a pan ready to cook when found, robbed about 40+ graves, had skulls on his bed posts, etc.
Yet he was a very mild mannered man that baby sat, small, lived by himself, was a simple handyman that farmers would hire etc. He was found guilty on murdering two women, but the real count was I think, 6 according to specks. My mother caught him peeking in her bed room window once around 1951 and ran after him! I still remember her yelling at him. Hitchkock loosely wrote the silence of the lambs about him.
This guy did not "look" evil. Leon "specks" murdy was the ex sheriff of washara county wisconsin just before gein killed his last victim bernice warden that ran a store in plainfield. Art shly was the new sheriff and called out specks that really cracked the case although shely took the spotlight. Specks took gein to madison for a lie detector test and in the process spent a night with ed sleeping in the same cell. Specks told me gein told him he couldnt control himself in the full moon! Specks alternated the sheriff job with his wife helen who was my cousin, due to some rule that you couldnt do over two terms in a row. Once two deer hunters were missing. Specks and my dad tracked them near geins farm. This was in the late 40s. They were never found! A girl was babysitting near la cross. She was never found. Specks said they found a old faded levi jacket at the scene that had the criss crossed outline of a harness. Gein still farmed with mules or horses. Specks placed gein near the scene but he wouldnt crack on that one. Specks figuered gein also killed his brother and father many years prior. Gein had went hunting with his brother when they were youths and came back alone. That night there was a marsh fire, next day gein took a search party right to his brothers charred body. Also later their farm house burned down with his father in it! After the trial the state was going to sell the farm and other posessions off. The farm mysteriously burned down the night before the auction.

Makes me sick to my stomach and furious!

Too bad those *******s lived to see trail. This sort of scum will torment their helpless victims but lack the sack to buck up when the man come for them. I think they know however, that the men coming for them are coming in anger, perhaps even spoiling for a fight and half way hoping for a reason to gun them down like the rabid dogs they are. Rest assured however, that there is a special place in Hell waiting for them on the day of their final judgement.

On a seperate note, I had actually forgotten about this incident back during college. I was hiking alone in the Cooper's Rock State Forest and had stopped near a stream for a rest. As I sat on the creek bank I heard movement up the hillside behind me and was absolutely overcome by the feeling that something was watching me. This wasn't squirrels playing, but a creature of substantial size considering I could hear it over the sound of the rushing water. I'm really not sure which came first. The sound or the feeling. Regardless, I couldn't shake it. It was a feeling I don't think I've experienced before or after. Really unnerved me to the point I poped the snap on my flap holster and began to carefully, but casually scan the hillside for something out of place. Of course I didn't see anything. I decided the best thing to do was simply continue on with my hike. I loaded up my pack and went on, extra aware of my surroundings. Once I cleared the area the feeling subsided.

A few years back I was living with my now exwife then fiance at her apartment which was a low income block in a rural area. The residents were mainly whites and hispanics on state aid or working low pay jobs, Good people. She complained to me that she was finding cigarette butts on her patio and hated sweeping them up and asked if I was sneaking a smoke before bed or when she wasnt home. Well I was here and their but I did it while walking the dog and not on the patio. I started noticing a man who lived in the building across the parking lot just lurking around.
One night I was walking in the door and bumped into my Fiance who was about to take the trash out. The dumpster corral was about 35 yards from her building and not much light and it was about 945pm. I took the bag and before I walked out slid my 1911 in my jeans waistband. After an annoyed eyeroll from my girl ( You have to carry that thing?) I walked out and headed to the dumpster. I just crossed the gate to the corral when it felt like my guts went ice cold and my lungs seized up. I heard a scraping in the shadows between the dumpster and fencing. It was probably the fastest I had ever drawn a gun before and had it aimed at the area the sound had come from. After a few shouted curses the lurker stepped out, lighter in one hand, pack of pall malls in the other. I asked him what he was doing and his answer of Just getting a smoke didnt make sense. Who smokes next to a reeking dumpster in August in the shadows? Then I noticed the brand and remembered seeing the butts in the patio waste can. I asked him if he was smoking on my girls patio. He just stared and had this smirk on his face. " The one in number 1? shes a nice girl." A pretty innocent statement but in the circumstance I didnt take it as such. This guy wasnt even scared. Here I am, 6'1 315lbs and Im holding a loaded gun in my hand and hes staring, smirking and had the coldest, flattest eyes. Now my next words were probably just stupid to say and couldve landed me in a heap of trouble but at the time it just came out. I said if anything happens to her Id find him and put him down.

The next day I talked to the apartment manager about the guy and he said that a few of the other female tenants had complained about his behavior. No more cigarette butts were found on our patio and I didnt see him lurking around. Turns out he had been released from jail a few months earlier for sexual battery and other charges in the same vein.

I came home from work one evening after the 4pm to midnight shift. I went into the kitchen to get something, and sat down at the table.

I could NOT stay in that room. There was the sense of something evil in there. Nothing specific, but it was almost like a smell. Thinking I was being silly, I got up to go into the other room. Stepped in there, and it was gone. BLINK. Gone. I stepped back into the kitchen and it was there again. Out...gone...back in...there. I did that several time with the same result. Nothing seemed out of place, no reason for it at all.

Went to bed, fell asleep, woke up the next morning, never had it happen again.

Go figure.

Default On the other hand.

I've seen a couple of people mention "voices" that warned them. I've had that experience also.

November 27, 2007, my wife suffered a ruptured aneurysm in her brain. That night, after the surgery to repair the rupture, as I lay across her bed praying for her life, I heard a "voice" say to me "You're praying for the wrong thing." There was no one else in the room, but I "heard" that voice as distinctly as I've ever heard anything.

"The wrong thing? What does that mean?" I wondered. The voice replied "Genesis, Chapter 22."

Genesis Chapter 22? Then it hit me. That is where Abraham is called upon to offer up the thing he loves the most. His son, Issac. I have come to call this "My Abraham moment." I realized I either trusted God, or I didn't.

I changed my prayer. I realized that she didn't belong to me. She belonged to Jesus. She had given herself to him long before she knew me. I told God I would accept his will over mine. If he wanted to take her, I could accept that. BUT..."If you don't need her, I do. But I will praise you either way."

My wife recovered. I've tried to do my best to keep that promise and praise God at every opportunity. I know there are those who will scoff at this story, and that's fine.

I don't know who "spoke" to me that night. I know who I believe it was.

Default Camping Troubles

A school friend's Grand Pa had a farm, of sorts outside of Galloway, near the Great Bay, in NJ. At the start of duck season all us guys that liked to shoot at ducks would camp out and wait for the sunrise on opening day. Well, one year I was the only one to have the chance to set up and wait for the sun to come up.
I'm sitting in my sneakbox with my retriever and we are both snoozing waiting for the sun and suddenly we are both fully awake. Nothing around but the decoys I had put out and the feeling something was coming. I had never seen my dog's hair stand up like that. She's standing in the boat and shivering in fear. Well, that got me started. I try to calm her down while keeping myself under control. It is just starting to show light on the horizon and something bumped the boat! Not hard but enough to feel. There is not one sound except for a little light traffic noise from behind me and I never did figure out what woke me and bumped the boat. The water there was not that deep but some say that sharks would come in the Great Bay. I keep telling myself that must be the answer, but why did my dog and me both wake so suddenly several minutes before the bump? And I felt a terror like I never have to this day wash over me.
I don't know about the "Sense of Evil" but it sure was scary. That was the last hunting trip for me.

I've had that feeling myself before and have learned to heed it and get out of there.

Once when when I was young we went on a camping trip in northern Michigan. We were driving down a road and saw a sign stating this could be the highlight of your vacation in the middle of nowhere. My buddy turned his Blazer into the next two track heading toward Lake Michigan and I began having a feeling something wasn't right with the place. We got to the beach and started heading south looking for a place to camp and saw a man and boy walking on the beach ahead that soon disappeared over a dune ahead. My buddy sped up as we wanted to talk to them and learn if this was private or state land we were on. We never did find them as they appeared to have vanished and it was a good 100 yards to the woods along the lake.
We found a spot on a hill and set up our tent and took a hike in the woods. We walked a groomed trail likely from winter snowmobile trails and my buddy's girlfriend ran ahead of us. Butch and I soon ran to catch up to her and it took great effort to do so. Once we caught up with her she said she only ran a short ways but it seemed like she got teleported a long distance from us for us to make so much effort to catch up to her.
I still had an unesy feeling about the place but they and my girlfriend and I went to sleep in the tent. In the middle of the night I heard something brush against the tent and then the slow noise of the zipper opening. I quietly woke Butch up and whispered what I'd heard. We found the zipper partially open and went out to investigate armed with a hatchet and spot light but found nothing.
We didn't get any sleep and broke camp early the next morning. We got quite aways down the road before the bad feelings left me and the other three agreed they felt uneasy while we were there too.
Years later we all 4 relayed this experience to a pastor friend and he told us that places do exist that evil forces have a hold on and I believe we were in one of those places.

My grandmother told me a story of hearing a whip hit her door in the middle of the night. This was probley around 1915. She had left europe and a few weeks later got a letter that her mother died the night she heard the whip hit the door. I am no longer sure, but it seems she even said there was marks of the whip on the door.
Another time my dad told me he woke up to the smell of rose`s. Later that day a neighbor stopped by to report the death of some woman who had lived in that house and that had been her bedroom.
Once I had a mentaly challanged nephew come to live with me. My ex wife and our daughter were at the table for dinner. He recently had also been threw out of the army, went home and his dad died. My sister couldnt handle him. I asked my nephew about reports I had heard from my sister that he had given her trouble and why she threw him out. He had a steak knife in his hand and said I am the meanest ------in the world with a knife! I looked at him and reconised that I was looking at a demon! It seemed slow motion to me, but later my wife said she never seen me move that fast in my life. I ran around the table to disarm him, beat him in the process and had knocked him to the floor. He was screaming like a little girl. (6ft 3"s and healthier than me) I now was fighting myself! Everything in me was wanting to finish him off, yet there was a force in me trying to stop myself. Unexplainable!
The weird kicker is this: The next morning I called my dad to get advise. Before I told him anything he cut in and said, I had the worst nightmare of my life last night. It was like one of wendies kid`s was in a cage as a baby, not sure which one, but for some reason I was trying to kill it! There is two hours differance between california and wisconsin. We were eating late and dad always went to bed early. He actualy went through my exact emotions that I was going through at the exact time!

In walks a young mother with her daughter. Mom was 25ish, very attractive. He locked on her like a laser. He watched her bottom all the way to the front counter until she turned a corner. He actually licked his lips. He exited out the backdoor and walked around the place 2 times while she was eating her doughnuts.
I told my wife what I saw and what I felt and had her go to the young lady and tell her what had just happened and that I was going to watch them to the car. She thanked us, and I saw her safely to her car. I made sure she wasn't followed, but he had completly disappeared. This KK is located on the end of a parking lot with visability @200 yards in any direction. That dude had evil all over him.

I am sure some of these have perfectly reasonable explanations, but I am also firmly convinced that there are things we are not meant to understand.

I've had such moments in both my military and LEO career. Once when i was a housing Sgt. i was doing a walk through of a several block area that was cordoned off and vacant in preparation to being demolished. I always worked alone when i was a SGT or LT and kept my guys in pairs as i circulated and kept tabs on them. i was alone that evening when i entered one of those vacant buildings. i felt pretty strange as i walked through the building, some of the units were bare and others were filled with belongings as if the tenant had just put down the keys and walked out when they got their relocation notice! family pictures, clothes and all.

I walked through the building and lastly i walked down into the basement and through the full length open plan storage and wash area. all the machines had been disconnected and pushed into the corner by the demo crew, but the storage cages hadn't been touched.

I decided to poke around one of the cages and got a bad feeling that i shouldn't go into that particular cage. being one who always pays attention to my gut, i stepped back and looked at the other cages and got a distinct urge to check one particular one.

I took my asp and broke the lock off of the cage and began poking around inside and the bad feeling got worse. it was getting close to dusk and i also realized my portable wasn't getting any reception in the basement, so i was out of touch! the demo areas were several blocks in size and totally deserted, you could fire a shotgun in there and no one but one of us would hear it.......maybe.

Long story short [er] after poking around in the cage a few minutes i found a caddy hubcap with a couple candles, some buttons, an earring.....and 3/4 of a severed human finger!

Much of the meat had been eaten from the bones and we couldn't get a print. We never got a DNA match either. It apparently was a teenage male though.

i was working in the eastern panhandle of wv later when i was a PI, and was trying to locate a subject that had disappeared with a settlement from one of our clients. i ended up on a farm in a very isolated area and no one was apparently there. i was standing between the house and the barn, and suddenly got a bad feeling so strong i started to shake. and put my hand on the G23 i was carrying at the time. i didn't see anything, but i KNEW i was being watched from more than one direction. I'm positive i caught a glint from an optic in the treeline about 70 meters off that disappeared hen i turned my head in that direction. i knew what it was, as I've seen that very glint before.

i ducked behind the corner of the house, and jogged back to my POV, glock in hand and unassed the area posthaste! i didn't go back either!

Default 6th sense

I have had my"6th sense" talk to me a few times. Once, many years back I was on a deer hunting trip. I'd got a buck on Sunday and most of our family hunting party went home that afternoon. Tony had not got a deer and was going to stay for 2 more days so I decided to stay and camp with tony and his wife and go out with Tony to help if needed. Sunday night we were sitting around the fire and they went to bed. I walked over to the spring to get a drink of water before going to bed myself. As I approached the spring I got very spooked. I got a drink and almost ran back to my truck, looking over my shoulder all the way. I didn't have a flashlight and my only weapon was a knife. I got into my camper, my rifle was in the cab of my truck and I was in the back. I really wished I had my rifle with me but didn't like the idea of having to go get it.
In the morning we found my deer, hanging in a tree had been pulled down and partially eaten by a bear. I went right over to the spring and there were bear tracks in the mud there. Very shortly after that I purchased my 1st handgun (model 19), so I could always have gun nearby.

Back in late 1964 and early 1965 I was a guard at universal studios. The adams family set was there then. I worked graveyard. That set was spooky to walk through. Even off stage they had cobwebs that would get on your face etc. One guard was attacked there one night. I never did hear the truth of what happened but figure someone hopped the fence and was spending the night in that set. Probley seen they were about to be discovered and coldcocked him with a iron pipe or something.
I just might hold a world record for working graveyard. I figure I worked about at least 34 1/2 years out of 37 on graveyard 3 or 4 places put together and 35 of it at lockheed aircraft company. That was a huge place and had close to 40,000 employees at times many years ago especialy in burbank and now palmdale california. We had many smaller sites away from the main plants to check. Always they were in out of the way places and usualy no graveyard shifts. We always had to check them various times through the night. A number of times guards were attacked. One night I was alternateing checks with a buddy/guard. I made my rounds that included checking out the employee credit union that was on the street on hollywood way in burbank. I went back and it was his turn. He didnt come back. He had climbed a stair well to offices above the credit union to hit a detex key at the top of the stair well. Later he told me he seen a door cracked open and just thought some employee hadnt locked the door. He reached in through the door hunting for the light switch. Someone was in there and hit his arm with a crowbar or similar. Belive it or not, he thought he got a shock off the light switch and stuck his head in and got brained! Thieves had come down through a roof hatch and dropped into the room! I heard it affected him mentaly.
Another time on a sunday morning a day shift came in to work overtime at plant 10 in palmdale. I was just getting off work and we got a call there was a man in a womens restroom. My relief was to take the call. Since at that time he was a brand new guard I figured I better go with him. We found this very dirty idiot that was incoherant. He was bare foot and his feet were as black as my boots! Stunk to high heaven. At one point he tried to take a swipe at me but was very ineffective. I got the job to ride with him in the ambulance to the hospital. I almost upcucked smelling him! This character had got fired several weeks before, evidently climbed the fence, got back in and been hideing out in the attic areas of the factory probley eating leftovers from workers lunchs out of the trash barrels.
Maybe a month after that I seen his penciled likeness in the local paper for serial rape. Of course I told the SD who they were looking for.
I recall quite a number times lesser events of finding intruders through all those years.
I guess with all those years of graveyard I became part of the night and could be something of a close secound to a boogie man myself. I know I never felt fear at anytime in all those years although I knew people who quit rather than work it.

In 1988 while working for our county health department I received a complaint concerning illegal dumping of motor oil, antifreeze, and transmission fluid into an old well on some property in a very rural area of the county. Shade tree mechanic situation. When making my investigation I knocked on the door of the trailer. No one answered. I left my card in the door and went to the well to take some samples. Not long afterward I felt some eyes staring at me.

I turned around quickly and there was the owner of the property Richard Nitz. His wife Rita came out of the trailer a bit later. Talk about dead eyes! The hair on the back of my neck stood up. I found what I was looking for and issued a citation for both Richard and Rita without letting them out of my sight.

This area is "Deliverance Land" and I always went armed there. Richard happened to notice my .45 and said he was going to call the sheriffs dept. and also sue me. I told him that was fine since I was also deputized and to be sure and get my name right on the complaint.

They came for their first court appearance and complained to the judge about me. He set their trial date for thirty days later. Less than two weeks later they were both arrested for murder. They had killed a young man by hitting him with a baseball bat, then shot him in the head with a .22. They then decapitated him to get rid of any ballistic evidence. His head and the .22 were never found. The victims body was found when some drunken teenagers thought it would be fun to overturn a car parked in a forrest preserve and the headless body fell out of the trunk of the car.

Richard initially got the death penalty, but, got a retrial because of some medication he was taking during the first trial. He was then sentenced to life. He is doing his time in Menard. Rita got life and is doing her sentence at Dwight Corectional Center. I recently saw her on a segment of "Women Behind Bars."

Talk about evil, that was evil personified. I'm glad I had some spidey sense. I also found out that it is amazing what some people will threaten to hurt or kill you for. Not the first or last time.

I have one.

Nearly 19 years ago, when my third son was a baby of less than a year, one night I woke up with a strong sense that I should go check on him. So I did, getting up and walking down the hall to his bedroom.

His sheet was wrapped around his neck and his head was totally covered. I disentangled him, saw that he was fine, and went back to bed.

I had never had that feeling, that in the middle of the night I should wake and check on a child, before, nor have I had it since.

I do have a cousin who lost a baby son, over 40 years ago, when a Venetian blind cord got wrapped around his neck while he slept in a crib.... So maybe somewhere my senses are sharpened to that danger.

You want to see spooky? These pictures are of a priest that was in charge of a youth group when my daughter was younger. I forbid her to be anywhere near this individual ever. Check the eyes. Freaked me out. Downloaded from her camera.

I had the same experience as the OP at a young age while hunting and again when I was much older while camping.

I think we have a 6th sense that we automatically tune into. And since we're not used to doing so, it scares us when we do.

Both times I was armed to the teeth and glad I was!

Unfortunately so many charlatans and con artists have claimed "paranormal" and "psychic" abilities that it has given the concept a bad name. Like the sense of smell, it is real, but it defies our ability to measure and analyze. My mother said Ernest Hemingway was noted for his ability to sense danger. I worked for a limousine company for a few years as a driver and dispatcher, several times I took alternate routes, later learned there had been major accidents that tied up traffic on them for hours.

The OP could be telling one of my hunting tales to the T. Except for one further detail. When the very same thing happened to me one day on a deer stand, I held my ground for a short while. All else exactly the same. Then very clearly, i started hearing what sounded like 2 rocks clicking together. The sound came from right out in front of me, 50 feet away, but there was nothing there. I don't mean 1 click either, but a steady pace of them, click, click, click etc., going on and on. I wasn't asleep or dreaming, not in a state of high alert like that, hair on end, adreneline pounding through by bloodstream. I could feel the presence of evil, strong and hostile. I looked and studied the woods, they were dead except for the noise. And, i was not under-estimating the range to the source of the clicks.
I left after a few minutes, and as I walked away with the rifle's safety in the off position and my finger beside the trigger, the sound stopped. I have wondered in the years since if I was sitting beside some sort of old burial site, or an ancient crime scene, stuff like that.
I believe we all possess a 6th sense, and that only a fool would ignore it.

I don't know if it was a sense of evil. It was decidedly out of place. Especially when you feel the temperature drop in the middle of summer and the birds go quiet.
The Alamo and the Arizona both fill me with a sense of terror and great apprehension...almost like I was there...bulls**t detector goes into over drive

Many years ago I worked parttime for a guy that owned two OTR 18 wheelers. We were on our way home between Claude and Clarindon and he sees a large cardboard box in the road...ordinarily he would have run over it and gone on...for some reason he went around it and immediately locked his rig down and I did the same thing leaving the box between us...he bails out his tractor and runs back to the box and pulls a three year old out of it...

The reaming he gave the mother when he found her is still very vivid in my mind....he was physically ill and vomited several times before we left the area...

Why he chose to go around that box and not run over it as I had seen him do a hundred times....?

Why was the kid in a box on the road? Was she playing unsupervised or was she deliberately put there?

I had a similar experience in Australian outback one beautiful, sunny summer day. I was jeeping by myself in the mountains. I got out of the car to enjoy a peaceful day. Then I heard small twigs breaking almost constantly in some light woods maybe a hundred yards away. I stared and stared there but saw nothing move, but the twigs continued breaking.

I hopped in the car and drove on. Maybe half an hour later I stopped again, got out of the car. Lo and behold, a similar sound of twigs breaking, this time twenty-thirty yards away in some light bushes. Again I saw nothing there. That was it, I started the car and drove a good distance. This experience did not repeat again even though I continued jeeping like that for a couple of years.

There is probably a natural explanation, maybe trees drying out or something like that. But it sure feels creepy when you hear definite sounds of someone moving but there is nothing to see there. In bright sunlight!

My local friends had a comment to add to my experience. They said there is an abandoned shack somewhere in that area. He and his wife once visited the place and took photos outside and inside. When they looked at the photos, there was a grey globe visible in most of them. Spooky stuff.

I have had several times when I experienced "Sleep Paralysis". I felt that I could not move and I had no control of my body. I finally realized that I was dreaming about trying to wake up and that I was dreaming about being paralyzed. This always occurred just before actually waking up. It really seemed real before I figured it out. Since then, it has not happened as much.

I've never had any such feelings, I have the sensetivity of a turnip. I do however trust the feelings of dogs implicitly. If my dog doesen't like someone I don't trust them.

I feel terrible. I never have felt any of the things you posters are describing.

Yes, I have had people try to hurt me and worse, but I never had any sort of premonition prior to the beginnings of whatever it was that happened.

Yes, I have been scared to the point of nearly (but not actually) messing my drawers. Mortars and rockets dropping who-knows-where one will land next around you can do that. But never a premonition that the first "incoming" was about to happen and I needed to move to somewhere safer.

Later, as a young police officer, I had people try to hurt me and worse, but, again, other than being alert to their movements, actions, etc., and being prepared to react or act before they did something, no premonition hit me suggesting I do anything.

Most of the time, in fact almost all the time, the being alert to a possible attack amounted to nothing and the person(s) complied with my commands or submitted to the arrest. Or, perhaps it was the effect of being alert and prepared that caused most of the miscreants to submit.

I've been to Gettysburg and many other civil war battlefields many times, during the day, in the early morning and in the evening. Sure, there's a sense of history, or maybe of sadness and awe, but no ghosts, no chills, no nuthin' beyond that, really.

I guess I just don't have whatever you guys have and I am just a dullard as far as psychic powers.

Last Wednesday I was getting ready for choir rehearsal.

I was in the church alone which is almost always creepy (go figure, the two places I love most and are happiest when filled with people...church and school....the scariest when you are alone. ALWAYS, no matter which church or school and double strike if it is a church school, but I digress)

I was using the sanctuary piano to play through some tunes before rehearsal to see if they were anything I'd want us to sightread that night. I usually just read them in my head instead of playing them but I was in the mood to play plinky plink.

Anyway...one tune, it was "the First Noel" mashed up with Pachelbel's Canon. As I played it, that creepy being watched feeling started up.

I decided to ignore it since I was at church and always feel watched in there, but it was getting bad.

As I continued to play, I became aware of a female voice singing along. I could hear the words even.

Only that song. I was the only one in that building. The bell director was in the other building setting up for his rehearsal.

Anyway, that song, every time I tried to play through it, the feeling of being watched by something not good started up again and I could hear the woman singing.

It quit when senior pastor came in for our meeting.

And I didn't have the choir read that tune either.

I remember one time when I was a teenager, I was at the mall reading a book in the B. Dalton bookstore. I was totally engrossed in it and all of a sudden it felt like a hand was on my shoulder pulling me! I turned checked my six, and saw only throngs of people, but was compelled to leave LIKE RIGHT NOW!
I hauled out if there like my life depended in it, dropping the book in the process!
I've since had similar things happen like the above, but none were as crystal as that one!
I like to think that little "dinosaur brain" still has all the basic fight or flight tech hardwired and works on demand...thank goodness! Dale

a few years back driving down on isolated country road...

this does not read as scary or evil, but it sure felt that way at the time.

Heard the words "get out" (cliche, I know) and all my electrical took a dive.

Made a U turn in the middle of the road, and laid rubber getting out of there.

Have had more than one experience on this stretch of road, this was by far the only scary one. The other ones, just a little weird.

Do his eyes appear like that in person?

Or only on camera?

One picture I can chalk up to lighting effects, electrical or camera glitches, a malfunction or effect of some sort...but two pictures?

Does he creep anybody out off camera?

I can relate to this, though I didn't find it creepy.
My wife and I were at the church working on getting Oh Holy Night hammered out between the piano and the electric guitar. After the piece turned into a piece of liquid I could hear a third instrument voice covering an epic lovely harmony.
It gave me the sense that the angels of the choir wished to welcome me. Every so often I hear that angel voice. Using some of its harmony elements has made for some astonishing "improv"

I've hesitated to share, but have decided to do so.

When I was a kid, I used to love to visit my great-grandmother who lived on about 200 acres of mostly wooded land in PA. Even at the age of 9 or 10, My dad would send me out with his little Ruger MKII and off to explore. I used to love trolling through those woods and never had any issues. One of my favorite "destinations" was to what we called "Rock Springs". It was a natural rock formation about 30-40 feet high that had a constant flow of the best, coldest drinking water you could find. During one visit, I went out on the same trails to Rock Spring and, as other have described, (I'm getting goose bumps typing this) got this really creepy feeling, hair on my neck standing on end and just an overwhelming feeling of dread. Never saw anything or heard anything, but I high-tailed it out of those woods as fast as I possibly could. I never did tell anyone about it, but never, ever went into those woods again without my dad. I don't know what it was, but there was something or someone in those woods that day that just plain wasn't right.
