Default Copper-based lubricant?

I just saw an ad on a gun site for a copper based lubricant. I think it was called Spec 308.

I've never heard of a copper-based lubricant. What is it, and why would I use it over a traditional synthetic lubricant?

i used to race bicycles, and lots of bike/bike component manufacturers recommend copper based anti-sieze compound (instead of nickel-based) for titanium.

Cause it's new and probably expensive. It's like what Glock puts on their guns from the factory. It's Magic

Several videos on Google

We've had C-5A grease at Lockheed for many years and it contains copper. It is also available at Midwayusa as a gun lubricant.

As a side note; If you have recessed lighting, then you probably know all about twisting off the base when you go to change a light bulb.

A little copper-based lube on the threads before you install will usually prevent this from happening again.

Same goes for spark plugs, etc.

I've kept a small jar of Kopr-Kote on my workbench for years.

The copper lube has a higher heat tolerance than the silver stuff.
