Default Sons of Guns

What's wrong with "Sons of Guns" as far as the people here are concerned. I actually like parts of the show (the blowing up stuff at the end I could do without. Vince seems to know his stuff, Kris is kinda young but learning, Flen is Flen...very serious most of the time and Joe is the wildcatter. I like the show and occasionally learn something from it. It does seem like they know there stuff.

It's a TV show! I don't have a problem with it. Some folks here just hate it. Ok, don't watch it. No big deal. I too pick up a bit of knowledge, just have to weed thru the entertainment hype.

Default Sons of Guns Decision Time!

Well I watched last night and turns out that Will is NOT the "hard hose" he portrays.
He will work with Chris & Steph after-all.
That's one big "ATTA BOY" Dad!

You gotta wonder how much of what they do is just for tv, or did they act that way before tv??

Enquiring minds want to know.

The word "Hacks" comes to mind.....

I watched a few shows only to equate it to the same category of big time wrestling but for gunsmithing. A few projects were interesting but most are ridiculous (IMHO).

It's one of those shows that I watch if nothing else is on, I agree with the gratuitous explosions being unnecessary and distracting.

The majority of their projects make no sense. They are over the top shenanigans as far as I am concerned. Like others have said i watch the show as a last resort. But...it does appeal to non-gun people, which is always good. A few of my friends who know absolutely nothing about guns love it. And anything that exposes non-gun people to the hobby in a positive way is a good thing.

When they put together a shotgun-Taser combo, I just rolled my eyes. It's the kind of design that exists only to be sold, and I imagine, given the number of police deparments and county sherif's offices in the country, there may actually be an opportunity to market a couple of hundred of them. If they can sell them, more power to them. But as a taxpayer I would object if my local agency proposed to acquire them. A dollar solution to a dime problem.

On the other hand, when they welded the 20mm Lahti back together and got it functioning, I was glued to the screen. A rare and historically significant piece of artillery from the Winter War? What's not to be fascinated by?

The guns are sometimes interesting. The people are annoying.

The only "reality" show where I am interested in the psychology of the characters is Gold Rush. Mike Harness, the quiet mechanic with the bad back, is a lit stick of dynamite. And doesn't anybody in that crew of hapless wannabe miners realize that Hoffman Sr. is suffering from the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease or acute Attention Deficit Disorder? Just because a guy has good skills with an excavator and a couple of extra decades on the planet doesn't mean he should be allowed to set policy for the whole gang.

I think it's a plus that some networks are actually putting gun shows on. Sure there is some TV drama I could do with out, but sometimes they have some cool firearms on the show.

I like the show. Some of the stuff doesn't interest me but stuff like that Lahti surely does. Henry Bowman used a Lahti to shoot down helicopters or something I think didn't he? I can't remember, been about 10-12 years since I read Unintended Consequences.

I like Sons of Guns, Top Shot and American Guns. It's great that "non gun" or "non gun nuts" get to see firearms as heritage, part of the fabric of America and used in a positive way.

The positive thing is, there are shows about GUNS and GUN PEOPLE using them in a LAWFUL MANNER.

Yes there is some Hollywood/TV stuff thrown in. but still I think overall it is good for Gun Owners.

Hey I am from the same city as "Sons of Guns" so in several ways I am compelled to like the show. I don't care for all the "new" ideas they present and the love of the AKs and Siagas, but it is all in good fun and is nice to have a gun related show on network TV showing positive firearm use. I think it is better than "American Guns" in that it is more laid back and for other reasons it might not be in good taste to mention here!

Best book EVER! If there is anyone who hasn't read this book, read it. Brilliant.
