Ahrends grips
If I'm reading their website right it says that their retro target grips aren't quite as bulky as S & W target grips. Is that correct?
The target grips on my 4 inch M-57 are just a bit on the bulky side and standard grips are a bit small for the recoil. The other question is how tight are they fitted and do they require any final fitting? I'm thinking that some of the grips in Rosewood could very well be my xmas present.
comments?

I've got the retro targets on my 25-13. They fit perfect and required no fitting to install. Ahrends makes a great product at a great price, IMO.

Steven,
Ahrend's Retro Targets are svelt compared to factory combats, and, in my experience, enhance the natural "pointability" of any gun, upon which, they are installed.
While they are a tight fit, no actual "fitting" has been required on four sets I have bought from Kim.
On revolvers, I place them on the gun, and, as I tighten the screw, they kind-of "click" into place as they settle-into where they ride on the grip frame.
Kim provides a quality product and is a first-class man, with whom, to deal!

I like Kim's grips on my snubbies, less so on my full sized.
My "N" frames (2 of them, at least)
They do seem to conceal a little better in the front pocket of my Wranglers

I just ordered a pair of his S&W Tacticals the other day, for my 66, soon as they get here, I'll give my impression of them. I'm comparing them to both the stock rubber grips and the Miculeks.

Here's a side-by-side comparison of the S&W and Ahrends target stocks:

I have Retro Targets on the 6" and Square Butt Finger Grooves on the 4"......both in Cocobolo and both round to square butt conversions. The Retro Targets are very comfortable and definately slimmer than the factory targets.

Great pics, civil1977! The Ahrends retro rd/sq conversion have always turned my crank. I've got a couple sets of tactical but no retros. If you had to choose between the retros and the tacticals, which would you take? Is your finish the standard or is that the oil? They really make a nice presentation.
The retros kinda remind me of the Spegel r/s conversion. I do wish Ahrends offered S&W emblems.

I guess if I had to choose, I would take the retros. Both of mine have the oil finish.

My Ahrends just got here the other day, cordia wood, tactical round to square version. I'm digging them. They really fit my hand well, I'll be using them in a match Saturday.

with the wind blowing at 45 mph+ and a wind chill of around 20 degrees or so I hadn't planned on going to the range for obvious reasons. however the Ahrends Retro Target grips I had ordered for my M-57 4 inch showed up in the mail today. I proceeded to load up the range bag with ammo as they just needed to be tried out. they felt just right as compared to the S & W targets that just felt big. the fit and color of the wood (cocobolo) were outstanding. I don't have a camera but the color of wood looks just like the retro target grips shown on their website

They're the best fitting stocks I've ever put on a revolver. They make N frame .44 magnums comfortable. And the combats don't hang on my vest, like Goodyears do sometimes. I have them on several K, N, and L frames, and they all feel great.
I could swear that Kim Ahrends has broken into my home, and measured my hands while I was asleep.

Here is a set of the maple N frame retro targets on my Outdoorsman. They are slimmer and have a much better fit than the factory grips.
