Advice on laptop speakers
Been thinking of a new laptop, but want one with good quality speakers. Last couple I have had quality was sort-a crummy.
Anyone have any opinions of Lenovo and HP? My sister has a Dell but I would rather stay away from them if possible, Her speakers are what I would call great as far a laptop speakers go but it's still a Dell.
Any info welcome.

your sorta asking the impossible.
If they installed 150W amps and 15" woofers it wouldnt really be a laptop anymore.
the speakers are very small, often times they are re purposed headphone drivers. your not getting concert level Bach out of any laptop without some external help

Best built in I have heard are on my wife's five year old Toshiba Dynabook which has some guy called Harman Kardon's name emblazoned on it above the keyboard.
That said, no way it sounds as good as headphones or earbuds, or running the laptop through a soundcard and a big audio system. My second son has a set of Bose speakers, maybe six inches high, for his Dell laptop and they are room filling great. Cost about $400 tho, he said.

These are a little big to be portable but if you use your laptop in the same area they might work. Keep the speakers set up permanently and then connect your laptop when you want to listen. I have M-Audio AV40 system for my desktop pc and am well satisfied, sometimes even amazed at how good they sound. The AV30s I linked to are a little smaller and a bit cheaper but basically the same as mine.

For home use, another option is to send your music wireless to a home audio system. With Windows I used a Linksys wireless bridge, now I use Apple Airplay.

The speakers in my Toshiba laptop sound great just the way they came. Excellent sound quality.

For home
Howdy,
If you are wanting a place at home to work and listen to music I can recommend the HP 30 watt 2.1 set up, comes with small sub.
I have it on my system and it has good volume and sounds great.
They are all over E-Bay for around $25.00 shipped.
These are used trade ins from large companies. Mine came in "Like new" condition.
The speakers are 2 1/2"x8" with a 8x10" sub. Easy set up.
I think these are a real bargain.
Good luck
Mike

I've got a similar Toshiba laptop with Harmon Kardon speakers, though it's only a couple of years old. They sound OK for what they are, and they're certainly better than most, but I have an external set for when I'm watching DVDs in the truck. It sounds a little better with a subwoofer.

There are plenty of IPOD docking stations that will also plug into anything with a 1/8" stereo jack. Mine is by Altec Lansing and it sounds great. Paid around $125.00, IIRC.
