Default Does anyone else have a NAA mini revolver?

I'm a J frame / revolver kind of person for most pocket carry situations, but there are always times where size, weight, or clothing will not allow for even the smallest of .38 models. Walking the beach wearing swimtrunks only is one example that comes to mind.

I know it's not the first choice for self defense, but if it's a choice between a pocket knife, or even nothing at all, I like the North American Arms .22 Mag single action 5 shot mini revolvers. I've had this one for 20+ years, and it's been many places with me. Still shoots like new, and is a handful to shoot too, sounds & recoils like a .38 !

They're well made little guns, great for revolver lovers, and have a lifetime warranty too. NAA has some newer fancier models since I got mine.

Josh; I have one just like yours. In fact, I could have done a posting about it word for word identical to yours.

Mine has come in very handy at times in the past 20+ years in situations where it was the only thing that I could carry, and as a BUG. I also have one of NAA Guardians that I have used the same way when I could get by with something a little larger. I have used the Guardian a lot more than my little .22 mag though.

For what they are they get the job done, and many many times have allowed me to have protection when without them I wouldn't have had it.

Best Wishes,
Tom

I'm a big fan of the NAA Mini=Mag. The only issue I had, was with the stocks. The Std. mini stocks were just to small for use in
a high-stress situation, soI went with their over-size stocks.
Oddly enough, the break-top stocks work just fine. They may be a tad
thicker.
If you were in a situation where you Had to have complete concealment, even a glimpse could be bad. I found a man who
uses a new blue-ing method for Stainless. See what you think....

Yes. I do have 3 of them.

.22 magnum
.22LR
.22 short

I havent shot the .22 short yet. But with the other two I can't hit a barndoor even the complete barn with them.
They are good for very close combat.

I have a .22lr and carry it a lot. Past around 10 feet it's pretty much worthless-but from 10 feet on in, it shoots "minute of 2'x2'"

Thumbs up

I've owned them all from North American Arms. Started back in the early 80's, maybe a little bit before that, with the .22 Short Mini Revolver. Then the .22 LR model which I carry often. I found it very handy at the beach in particular.

Cheers;
Lefty

I had one. It keyholed regularly. A trip back to NAA didn't fix the problem. It also had a habit - if carried in close to the body - of the hammer somehow working its way out of the little safety notch and instead sitting directly over the primer. All those fine points and a gun that needs to be disassembled to load/unload and is subject to the vagaries of rimfire ignition... Eh. Wasn't something that I wanted to carry around.

I have the LR Mini-Revolver and a pocket holster/money clip made for it.

When I carry it I use it for a money clip and it's home in my left front pocket

I have one in .22LR that I play with some and wouldn't sell but to use as a self defense pistol they are the most dangerous gun in the world. I would be afraid to pull it on somebody because if they had a real gun they would kill me. I can carry a chief with Barami hip grips any place I can carry the NAA. Larry

I am a cyclist and carry one in my jersey pocket to ward off dog attacks. I use CCI shotshells which stings the dogs, but don't even penetrate their skin. I should carry my .45 to ward off motorists who pass too close!

I have a couple of the NAA mini-revolvers; they are OK but not near as accurate as my Freedom Arms Mini revolver. It's marked Casull's patent. When people are talking about their big bore revolvers I like to ask them have they have seen my Freedom Arms Casull. Of course they haven't so I drag out my lil' mini-revolver and show it to them

I'm thinking about sending mine to Bowen to get adjustable sights put on it and get the action slicked up a bit.

I have the .22LR. You're right about the barndoor. You may also be right about very close combat provided you capitalize the VERY and double underline that word.

Yep. I routinely carry this one - I normally don't leave home without it. I prefer something with more punch, but this is a good backup, or for use when "some gun is better than no gun." I suspect no one wants to be shot with anything, even if it's relatively puny. If I had to use it, it would be close up, and I'd shoot for the eyes.

I look at these as an extra insurance policy.

John

I bought the .22 LR version about 15 years ago. Carried it a lot in my left front pocket. Then one day I was looking at it and the mainspring was broke. I had shot it maybe 100 times. I called NAA and they sent me a new one with instructions. Lets just say it is still in about 25 pieces 10 years later.
I'm sure if I sent it in they'd assemble it for me. Heck if I can figger it out.

I have one identical to Paladin's, which I sometimes carry in a shirt pocket when I know I'll be wading in waist deep water that would immerse a belt-holstered gun, such as when anchoring my boat. It's reasonably accurate out to about ten feet, as Cajun Lawyer said, and possibly farther, although with its primitive sights, how could you tell? It's better than having no gun, I suppose.

I have a 5/8"Bbl. NAA Mini mag. I found it difficult to hold and fire with the supplied grips. But after replaceing with the NAA boot grips it's just right. Like others said it's not the "ideal" SD gun, but can even be concealed in speedos. (now theres a scary thought, me in speedos)

Smile NAA Folding 22 mag

I have the 22 mag with the folding clip grip. This gun is in my pocket whenever I'm working in the yard or washing the car, etc. Keep it loaded with Hornady 45 gr Critical Defense ammo. I take it to the range quite often, shoot it so I have a reason to give it a good cleaning (sometimes it picks up some pocket lint). The NAA revolvers are very well made, and 5 rounds of 22 mag is nothing to ignore because the gun is "cute" (wifes description). The other piece is a 66-1 thats had 6 or 7 thousand rounds put through it, love it!!

P&R, yes I think they'd re assemble it for you. One fellow on the NAA forum said he sent his in for a repair, and it was practically a new gun when he got it back.

I've been eyeballing these over / under Defender models from Bond Arms, in .357 or .45 cal. I doubt you'd hit the side of a barn from inside with these either, and only two shots instead of five ... but they do look cool. Has anyone tried one?

I've given them quite a bit of thought over the years, but decided my Seecamp (.32ACP) is about as small a firearm as I can be comfortable with.

NAA will put your revolver back togeher for you; don't ask how I know this. I had two of them and caried them in various ways. I even made a carrier from a sandwich container and some styrofoam, for use in a picnic basket. Then I made the mistake of shooting them at target. I was using the standard American pistol target for 25 yds, about 2 1/2 feet on a side, but I was shooting at about 10 yards. I fired two cylidners full from both pistols. That's 20 rounds, and at the end I still had a new target. I sold both guns.

I wear a suit and tie every day. And every day I carry A NAA Pug in my pocket or in an ankle holster if in the car all day. Big guns are preferred but when you are not allowed to carry while working small is good

I have a 1 1/8" barrel 22LR mini revolver. The first five rounds out of a clean gun will stay in a six inch circle at seven yards. After that the dirty barrel results in key holing and shotgun-like patterns. I carry it in a pocket holster loaded with snake shot when working on our property in case I come across a rattlesnake.

Kewl little gun,
I have stuffed it in my watch pocket, swim trunks accessory pocket, and back pocket on jeans.

each stage of the action feels precise from cocking, rotation, to firing. If you want to hit or shoot precision, look elsewhere but over all, for what it is, I love it.

I have a NAA Sidewinder in .22 magnum. It goes with me everywhere. I bought it as a novelty but after practicing with it and seeing how easy and quick it is to deploy and shoot it is now kept in my pocket. It is an suprise weapon for use up close.

I have an NAA Sidewinder. It goes just about everywhere with me. It is a serious self defense weapon, if you know how to use it.
