t-grip on a perfect finish...
OK...this might seem a bit over the top, but do any of you worry about the t-grip metal scratching the frame on guns during shooting? If so, do you put tape on the frame or have any other little method?

It would only very slightly mar the finish on the sides of the grip frame. It would be invisible with grips on.

Yes, and I have seen them mark the grips as well with the little tab. I prefer a grip that fills that area, and put the OE grips aside.

The BK adapters use a brass connection, and it's very slim. I have seen less wear in that area with them than I did with the Tyler.

I agree with squidsix, in that I believe that the BK adapters will produce less wear on the frame and the stocks.

If it's a shooter then go with the BK. Everything about them is better for shooting. If you want pretty, then a Tyler looks pretty.

Whatever you do get those rubber grips off. They will cause visible uneven wear on the side plate and oposite corresponding side. The t grip strips are copper so not an issue. You can shape and fit a piece of art gum eraser under the top of the t grip to prevent marring the frame behind the trigger guard. My DS finish remains almost 100% due to my care.

You'll note on my pic the Tyler T5 that fits a D frame Colt rides up over the "arch" behind the trigger guard. I think that's the concern Sip has. On my gun it obviously makes no difference. On a nice gun I would be concerned. A S&W J frame Tyler T1 will fit the D frame DS, and it fits under the arch, not up over the sides, but it's a little bit short of bridging the whole arch.

In retrospect to my previous comment, I don't mean to make it sound like the T grip's aluminum or bronze would scratch the gun. I think it's more the dirt build up that gets after the finish. But I still feel like BK's grip adapters are stronger and better suited for shooter guns.

I just received my first BK grip adapter. Before installing it I noticed burrs on the copper tabs where they had been stamped or cut out. I simply took a small flat file and cleaned up the inside edge so they slid over the grip frame without leaving a mark. I've never noticed this with the Tyler T-Grips that I've used for years.
All is well . . . just wanted to share.

I have a Tyler T Grip on most of my Revolver's (Smiths & Colt's) and they do leave a very slight indent on the wooden grips. They do not scratch the metal surface though. The mark on the wood is so slight even an anal person such as myself will not loose sleep over it. The benefits far outweigh the slight indent. and by the way, it really is just a slight indent, NOT a scratch.
By the way, I will second what JcMack said about the rubber grips leaving marks on your guns. I'm done with Pachmeyer's! If you MUST use rubber grips the Uncle Mikes are MUCH better and will not mar the gun like the Pachy's do. Pachy's have scratched up and marred several of my guns and I have tossed them (the grips not the guns).
