I was just checking the CZ website as it seems they've added some new models from the latest shot show on to it and I came across this on the CZ 75 B page

Take a look at the top CZ 75 there, the slide no longer stops at the rail like is has since the 1978 second model (making it look very bren ten like) and the barrel itself seems to be longer and the statistics seem to support it as I swear it said it used to have a 4 inch barrel, which now it says it has a damn near 5 inch barrel on it, specifically a 4.7 inch barrel atleast with the .40 call version.

The reason why that is signficant is because one of the rules I've found to be true with the larger calibers is that you dont want a .40 call with a 4 inch barrel as it can be rather snappy and not as nice to shoot as the 9mm version typically, as typically for .40 and up you want 4.5 inches and longer, preferabily 5 atleast when it comes to a holster gun.


so my question is this, does anyone have any further information on this?

has it been this way for awhile and I'm just now picking up on it or did I accidentally stumble upon something they didnt mean to show off yet as the photos on the bottom are of the previous model that's been the current production CZ 75 for the past 19 years with the B model which I believe was released in 93'

My 2005 CZ75B has a 4.7" barrel.

I think there have been some other changes in the past couple of years, though. One that comes to mind is a different style of "beavertail".

I believe the top pic is of a CZ 75 in 40 S&W which has always had the full length rails on the slide. A bit beefier slide for the larger caliber.

All I own are wheelies, however a few years ago I kept reading about the CZ P-01 and how accurate, and reliable it was. I bought one and 1000 rounds of WWB to see for myself.
The first mag I fired through it was the best group I have shot in 45+ years of shooting. I then tried to MAKE it fail. I shot ALL 1000 rounds, in a 4 week period, without ever cleaning it, and with NO--NO--NO--failures of any kind.
If I had to trust my life to a bottom feeder it would be a CZ.

The basic model has always had the 4.7-inch bbl.

Mine was accurate and reliable. My son talked me out of it, but I plan to replace it.

He is struggling to decide if it or the Browning H-Power is his favorite 9mm. I think the CZ is more durable, especially with Plus P ammo, if one plans to shoot a lotof it.

The gun feels very good in larger hands. Can't say about smaller hands, but it's about as slim as large capacity 9mm's get.

hmm false alarm then and I guess this whole time I've just been looking at the 9mm versions as I just found this in google image search:

but on the plus side its the good kind of doh! although does that mean that for the most part the CZ website only uses photos of the 9mm versions?

I mean it would explain why I'm only picking up on this now as CZ's are quite rare in MA, although strangely I have seen Jehrico 941's around here (which are actually pretty much variant of the 75's design for those not in the know) but not any CZ 75's

that and maybe I've been looking at the earlier versions of the .40 call before that, maybe even a pre b model when it comes to the .40 version.
