93 year old '92 in 32-20
After I made my first post, I got this friendly reply:

So, here ya' go!
I found this 1919 Winchester 1892 in a gun store... had a tight action and excellent bore, but the wood had been refinished and it was drilled & tapped for a side mount scope. I figured it would make a great shooter. Besides, at $525 out the door, it was a no-brainer!
More pictures here: 1919 Win 92 (there's also one of my 1929 Savage 99F that I sold to pay for it)

I love 92s. Have had a number of them and clones through the years.

Nice. I have an old one that has been redone in .357 magnum. I wish she was still a .32WCF.

No kidding! Nice going. If I had the bucks to pay for a tricked-out M4... I'd forget the M4 and go looking for nice Model 92s & 94s.

That looks like it will make a great shooter! It's kind of unusual in that it doesn't have a carbine butt or a saddle ring and it has a fluted comb.
As I mentioned, we have a lot of members who like classic guns. I suspect you'll enjoy it here!

This one......
is from 1911, and was converted to .357 Magnum in the early 60's. Was in the same family { grandfather, father, son} 'til last year when I acquired it.
Very well done & one great shooter!!

Yeah, a fellow on Paco Kelly's Leverguns said it was a SRC ordered without the ring, with a Whelan fluted shotgun butt stock, sorta like a 53 with a full length mag tube.
It has the wrong rear sight, but I removed it today and installed a Lyman #2 tang peep sight.
Shot it today, too. Feeds well, extracts with vigor, and shoots tight groups!

I have one of those that my Grandfather used on police raids in the 30's. He left it to me in his will because I loved it so. As a kid, I played cowboys and Indians with it on more than one occasion. You seem to be missing the saddle ring. Too bad. In it's day, the .32-20 was considered a powerful round and was used in revolvers as well. I have one of those, as well. It was nice to go to the woods with your rifle, and revolver strapped to your side, and only have to carry one kind of ammunition.

It was a SRC ordered without a ring, and a shotgun stock with a Whelan flutes, making it similar to the model 53.
