Default Smart lawyer - smarter jury

A friend sent this to me. Probably not a true story, but funny.

In a criminal justice system based on 12 individuals not smart enough to get out of jury duty, here is a jury to be proud of:
A defendant was on trial for murder. There was strong evidence indicating guilt, but there was no corpse. In the defense’s closing statement, the lawyer, knowing that his client would probably be convicted, resorted to a trick.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I have a surprise for you all," the lawyer said as he looked at his watch. "Within one minute, the person presumed dead in this case will walk into this courtroom." He looked toward the courtroom door. The jurors, somewhat stunned, all looked on eagerly. A minute passed. Nothing happened.
Finally the lawyer said, "Actually, I made up the previous statement. But you all looked on with anticipation. I, therefore, put it to you that you have a reasonable doubt in this case as to whether anyone was killed, and I insist that you return a verdict of not guilty."
The jury retired to deliberate. A few minutes later, the jury returned and pronounced a verdict of guilty. "But how?" inquired the lawyer. "You must have had some doubt; I saw all of you stare at the door."

The jury foreman replied: "Yes, we did look, but your client didn't."

That type of scene was also in an episode of "Homicide, Life on the Street". Great 1990's series.

And going with mom to Woolworths to get new tubes for the tv. They had this "tester thingy" where you plugged in your defective tube to see if it lit up or not.

i got Perry on twice a day 10 to 11 am and 11:30 to 12:30 pm

problem being, after Perry at night they put Untouchables at 12:30, Peter Gunn 1:30 to 2:00, Mission Impossible at 2:00, Combat at 3:00, and Twelve O'Clock high at 4:00

all these were favorites when growing up ~~~ being retired, i've had the pleasure of rewatching a whole bunch of these, thanks to that nagging prostrate problem

these old B/W on the big LCD are crisp and clear, not like the old days when you got one hand on the vert knob and the other on the horz knob trying to get the lines out and the picture centered

Anyone else remember before you had a TV and entertainment was the radio? There were TV's out there but we didn't have one. Not many people in housing projects on the South Side of Chicago did.

I was the youngest. I had to get up to adjust the fine tuning. Which I heard at "Just to find Tooney" Never found, him, her, or it, but did get a clear picture.

Hey I remember Davvvvyyyy, Daaaavy Crockett! "Killed in a bar when he was only three..."

(Yessir, those old timers were some some hard drinkin' sons of guns, and, considering their short, short careers, they accomplished so much!)

(Hmm. Guess he was drinkin' tequila as that bar musta been in the Alamo, come to think of it...)

Back around 1943 there was a cowboy program on the radio for kids called Tennessee Jed. Each program started like this:

(sound of runing feet)
"There he goes, Tennessee.. GET 'EM".
POW.
(southern accent) "Got 'em, daaaaid center".

That program would last about two seconds in today's PC environment. "Think of the effect on the children!" Anyone else remember it? I think it was on station WOR.

I looked back and said, "Of course we did, Junior............I WAS The remote!"
