I waited as long as I could...
Local gun shop that I stop in every now and then still had the Winchester 9422 Trapper (.22 S, L, LR) sitting on the shelf. It has been there for months now. Never fired. Original red box numbered to the gun. One owner. Ive handled it every time I go in there. My 5 year old looks down the sights and says as I hold it, "Are you gonna buy this baby?" I always say, "No, not today." Today after running errands with my wife and son, we had to wait to get a prescription filled at the pharmacy drive thru. So, we stopped in at the gun shop. Wife sat in the car and we went in and it was still in it's spot on the shelf. After asking about dropping the price (again), they said they were firm on it. We went back out to the car and my wife could see that I wanted something. We talked about it for a few minutes and she told me to go put it on lay away. I honestly hesitated but finally let it get the best of me. So, another gun we can't afford right now, but it's hard not to say no when they sit there waiting for you every time you go in. Thank God for understanding wives, lay away, and bi-monthly payments. No pics of it yet, just this lame story that made a dumb week at work all worth it on a Friday evening.
Thanks for listening,
Kevin

Hey. I know how it is. I have a soft spot for lost guns. Smith & Wesson revolvers mostly, but recently I had a Ruger 10/22 with a Manlincher stock whinning and crying for me to take it home.
It's a good thing my dealer has a slot with my name on it on the layaway rack.
And as I've testified here before, my wife is no help at all.
Congratulations on the 94/22.

Would you feel better if the wife had said No?
Of course not. A keeper kid, keeper wife, and another keeper gun.
Today, it rocks to be you!

Good story. You appreciate them more when you have to wait to get
your hands on them a little while. Great wife you have there also sir.
My wife is the same way. She can tell when i've got the "Urge" to buy
a new one. I'm not a wealthy fella by a long shot and she is real good
to me about letting me indulge when i see a gun that i'm hot for.
Hang on tight to her my friend.
Chuck

Smart move! You're going to LOVE the 9422. I bought mine when they first came out in the 70's, and it is, by far, the best 22 rifle I have ever had. It's better, in my mind, than my $$$$ CZ 22 rifle, and a lot more fun to shoot. What better rifle could you start a youngster on?? I doubt you'll ever want to part with it. Did I mention that you'd LOVE IT???

Just think how you would have felt if you went in one day and it was gone.

I'm in the same boat. Winchester 9422 regular model. Used but in nice shape. Thank the good lord for layaway. Going to make a payment today. I've wanted one for years and finally found one. Just gonna take some patience to get it out of hock. About springtime.

That hurts! I bought one in .22 mag when they first came out. I gave it to my dad. He loved it and hunted foxs etc with it. Then back in 2003 dad had to go to assisted liveing in wisconsin. It was about two weeks before he died. I went home and took all of his guns out of storage and drove them back to california. I couldnt get them in my already full safe. About two days later I was burglared and lost all the family guns that I couldnt squeeze in my safe.!
