Default The gun show gods have been good to me

I wasn't quite sure where to put this post as it covers several models and doesn't fit into any particular forum, so I put it here.

The gun show gods must be smiling down on me so far this year. We are only 5 weeks into the year, and already I have picked up four guns.
I sell concealed carry holsters at gun shows every weekend, and see all sorts of stuff stop at and pass by my table.
Two weeks ago in Jacksonville I picked up a Rossi M720 .44 special stainless steel with a 3" barrel for $225.00.
It locks up tightly, the timing is good, and there is no real visible turn ring on the cylinder.
This is one of the earlier ones made in Brazil, and imported by Interarms.
It came with Rossi rubber combat grips.

Later on that day I picked up a Beretta 32 Tomcat for $175.00.
This was like new in the box with all the papers.

This past weekend in Pensacola on Saturday morning I found an older Charter Arms Bulldog 44 Special for $250.00.
This was one of the older stainless steel ones with the shiny finish and were made much better than the ones now being produced.

BUT THEN.....on Sunday morning. I was really smiled down on.
A guy came up to my table to look at the holsters. He was carrying a gun rug.
I asked him if he was selling and what he had.
It was a S&W 13-1 4" HB pinned and recessed, with Pachmayr presentation grips on it.
The finish was beautiful, locked up tightly, and the timing was great. It has no holster wear, and just a slight turn ring on the cylinder.
He let that one go for $300.00.

Yes....the gun show gods were smiling down on me.
Four guns for under a grand.
There are still deals out there at the gun shows.
You just have to look for them.

Range report and pics to follow later in the week.

Gun shows generally suck in Mississippi. I pick up maybe one gun a year from in-state shows. Mostly hunters around here, so shotguns pretty much rule the local shows, that, and the knife displays that seem to be taking over gun shows in my area. Bummer.

Impressive pickings you've come up with there. I've only ever picked up one gun from a gunshow, Sig P220 Equinox. And that was only because we had a hurricane (remnants of) blow thru and I lost power, so I went back to the show for a second time and nobody was there and he was willing to deal.

Two good deals for me at shows within the last 6 months.

This 1970 64 no dash for $300 Before and after pics

And this 1974 15-3 in nickle for $430

And the best of all my wife found in November at a garage sale. This hardly shot 12-2 for $150. Dates to 1972. The lady was selling her home and moving to an assisted living center and couldn't have firearms there. Bought by her deceased husband new.

DANG Stu, have you bought a lottery ticket lately? With luck like that you could be retired by next week!

Your story about the Rossi 720 made me smile, I picked one up several years ago and absolutely LOVE it. The grip fits my hand perfectly, and for some odd reason, I shoot it better than even my preferred S&W guns. A guy at work mentioned he was going to sell it, I asked about it and he told me he was tired of paying ghastly prices for what was nothing more than lead-bullet Cowboy loads. I offered him $375 for it, all I had available right then, and he said no. My heart sank, and I started to walk away to lick my wounds, and he said, "Give me $225, that's all I've got in it."

Score!

I'm looking for another one just like it, but doubt I'll be able to match that price!

That is why I bought it. I have only seen a few of them around at some shows, and most of them were $350.00 and above.
I was kinda on the lookout for this gun, and when I saw the price, I just had to grab it.
I concur with you on shooting it. Mine was accurate and enjoyable to shoot.
One thing I will say about it; out of all my non-S&W revolvers, such as Taurus and Charter Arms, this is the most well made one I have.
The edges are smooth and fit properly, and it locks up tightly, and the timing is great.

Hope you find a match for yours soon.

Packing for the gun show in Fort Myers this weekend.
We'll see what goodies I can find there.
Will report back Monday.

My gunshow successes this year is that I have managed to get home safely. I have not found a good deal at a gunshow in years. Didn't stop me from over paying a few times though.
