Default Age Poll

I saw PJV777's thread on age and I liked ragingyeti's idea to make it a poll.

http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-w...-your-age.html

After trying it myself I realized you cannot edit an old post to make it a poll, so I decided to start a new thread just for the poll.

This will allow us to vote and see the age distribution at a glance of our forum members. No need to reply since we already have an age thread, I just thought this would be neat for the poll results.

Thank you.

Yeah, after I voted it said 100% of us were in my age group!

But it is changing rapidly.

I've gotta feeling that we're going to come out looking like the over the hill gang. When the advertisers see our average age we'll get some adds for Geritol, Depends and assorted laxatives.

The way it is set up, a 30 year old would fall into two categories.... as would a 35, 40, 45, 50 etc.....

I figured someone would mention that, but it looked funny when I had it at 31 - 35, etc. So I switched it back and I was assuming since it starts at under 25, that if you are over 30 you will put yourself in the next column.

I also wanted to go higher and lower than 65 and 25 respectively, but it only allows 10 options max. I almost put it in 10 year increments for a larger window, and I almost had larger increments towards the end than in the middle. Then I realized I was thinking about it too much and I just made the poll. We'll be able to see what we wanted anyway, it will only let you vote once, so pick whichever trips your trigger.

My guess is that's exactly the reason why the Logos & Icons etc. here on this Site are getting larger.

The powers that be want to make sure that we can still see them from the "Other Side of The Hill."

I am 66 years YOUNG. In April I will be 67 years YOUNG!
When I was 42 I went through SWAT and Officer Survival school with a bunch of 24-26 year olds who kept goading me into signing up and calling me "old man."
I outran them all,out shot them all,and was top of the class.Got the paperwork to prove it. After that they stopped calling me old man. They called me "sir".
I think I could do it again. You're only as old as you let yourself be. Eat well, sleep well, excercise, pray daily, and constantly challenge yourself. And...be comfortable with who you are and don't try to be anything or anyone that you're not.

You should put another listing after "over 65" and add "rburgs age".

Hmmm, I see 62% of us are 55 or older. I guess it takes us old farts to really know what quality firearms are.

Being 78, I really hate being lumped with the 65-70s and the 70-75s in the over 65 group.

I really suspect that a lot of us are retired and have the time to be here. I never had a computer until my last two work years and with working about 65 hours a week didnt have time to be cruiseing the net.

Retirement, I think your on the money, might say we are the chosen few. I remember saying "I will never have a computer in my house" and "I will never go on the internet". I lied.

Default 241 people have voted in the poll

It seems that the numbers indicate that a high percentage of members do not participate in polls

I would do a poll asking members whether they vote in forum polls but I am afraid the numbers would be too one sided

I wonder what the percentage would be for the 70-75 and 75-80?

I started to complain about age discrimination in this post. There is no bracket for 75 and over.

I do to. When I made the poll, it was limited to 10 options. Originally I started at 20 but when it stopped at 60 I switched the start to 25 and stop at 65. I guess I should of made them 10 year increments, then I could of had it go higher, I thought about it, but didn't figure there would be that many above 65 on the computer since my grandparents didn't even like computers. Hind sight is 20/20, if I could edit the poll to change to 10 yr increments I would, but it won't let me now.

Glad all you old timers are here and enjoying your firearms and the comradery, and adding funny comments.

I'm only 71, but my lovely wife says I'm in a class by myself! Can we arrange that in your poll. Of course, I married a kid. She's only 70 and given to these cute observations.

If you think you are glad we are here, you should be one of us.

The fact is we enjoy being old timers. We knew what life was like years past. We enjoyed things the young ones today will never see. It is really sad but we also know that we do not have to worry about living another 40 yrs to see what else will cease to exist as more restrictions are put on the citizens by the government.

Yet we got to live during times when we could buy guns from the hardware store without having to fill out paperwork or being approved by some agency. We got to drive cars made out of metal by US labor. We were raised to respect others and the only time our pants sagged was when we were in diapers. Our hair may be grey now but at least it was never purple and spiked. We dressed up for hospital visits, funerals, church and a few other occasions. Most of us learned to shoot in areas near our homes and we did not have to drive across town where we pay someone to let us shoot on their property.

We also appreciate guns that are not made out of plastic that looks as good as they shoot.

Yep, it is pretty nice being older.

Funny story - My Mother-In-Law (76) and I (56) were discussing the TV show "The Honeymooners" and trying to remember the character names for the neighbors. I pulled out my iPhone and Googled it, coming up with Norton and Trixie.

She said: "Yep, that's it but I have one question."

"What's that, Eunice?"

"Why in the world would they put that on your phone?!"

I patiently explained that it would make more sense to her if she just thought of it as a pocket computer that happens to make phone calls.
The incident drove home the fact that here will come a day when technology eludes me as well...

That reminds me of one time when I was a kid watching TV at my grandmother's house. She walked into the room as a guy on the show pulled out a gun and she ran over and unplugged the TV. When I asked her why she did that she said "I don't want that guy to shoot anyone."

Ever time I respond to one of these age polls I am wondering who is keeping tabs & why.
I just got over the desire for sex--why would I want to go there again--no viagra fer me.
Blessings
