Default Red Flag: USAF Fighters at work!

IMAX Fighter Pilot - YouTube#

Saw this wonderful film on another board. Enjoy, if you like modern fighter aircraft. It shows the F-15, F-16, A-10, and the Tornado during an intense drill at the Red Flag fighter school at Nellis AFB, outside Las Vegas.

About 48 minutes, but worth it. Better than most TV shows, which are that long, excluding commercials.

Pilots from the US, UK, Germany, Italy, and others.

I saw that movie at the IMAX Theater at the St Louis Science Center when it first came out, and it was amazingly well done. I took my Pilot-wannabe son (aka Wingnut) and we both had sore necks by the time we left from craning our heads around, trying not to miss anything. The flight scenes were pretty intense.

I think Wingnut has decided that he's not going to make the cut to be a military pilot, so he's determined to become a wealthy engineer, and buy his own planes. He spends HOURS on his various flight-sim programs, knows more about aircraft than some pilots, and would make a good flier someday.

I'll be sure to send him the link.............thanks for posting it!

I was at Red Flag back in 1984. I was with an F-106 squadron at the time, we were acting as the "aggressors". I observed one of our exercises from the E-3A Sentry AWACS aircraft. It was a great time.
