Gun Show buying Tactics - for S&W Revolvers
Scan the guns... Don't examine them.
Look for unusual features. Look at the barrels first, for lengths., 2nd the sights, then the lug lengths. Learn/Know the differences...
Learn the gripframes, the stocks, caliber rarities.
That is the starting point....
From there, it gets complicated

My tactic: (to friend) "Look at this hunk of junk. Rust everywhere, and it probably won't even fire." (to seller) "I'll give you (20% of asking price) for this boat anchor."
Don't laugh! It worked once!

1) offer less than you are willing to pay. Listen carefully to counteroffer.
2) based on said counteroffer, offer what you are willing to pay.
3) count out CASH or walk away.

Take a friend or two, let them know what you are looking for. More eyes are always better.

pharmer said it best. Except the number three.
"3) count out CASH or walk away."
I understand the "count out the CASH". It is the "walk away" that is foreign to me. Walk away? Just how does someone walk away from a Smith they want? I have yet to be able to accomplish this.

I like looking round at gun shows, but I really don't like buying at them.
My strategy: Last day. I go late on the last day of the show. Most of the good stuff is overpriced, but on the last day of the show, I have been able to get folks to come way way down on prices.
