Default Wood Gun Boxes question

I have several old but very "pretty" revolvers that I'd like to give to my grandkids in a presentation box. I have the boxes...usually old cigar humidors...and would like to put a nice insert to hold the gun. I've tried foam, but it's hard to cut and looks cheesy. Any successful stories out there? Thank you!
