Default Kel Tec PMR 30 - Any Opinions?

I've been considering a PMR 30 for quite a while - used to really enjoy shooting a friends Grendel. They're a bit scarce, Kel Tec claims to be producing plenty but most orders go unfilled. Suggested retail is $419, LGS offered to sell me one for $379 (when they get it). I've seen a few at recent gunshows for $599, not from me thank you. I've read some comments from folks having feeding problems, and the factory making upgrades to later production runs. Does anyone have one or have any firsthand experience with one? I know its not in the same ballpark as a S&W, but if its anything like the Grendel, its a fun plinker.

They are a lot of fun. I have shot different brands of ammo without a problem. Shoots very well.

Good luck finding one. I think they make about six per year
Prices are artifically inflated due to low production. Yes, they sell for $600, had one in my shop last year & sold on Gunbroker for $550 or so. Nice profit. I have some on backorder too.

If you like .22 MAG, then you will probalby like this pistol. I thought the grip felt too "plastic". The sights were decent. However, I don't know anyone who has shot one.

It is an updated version of the Grendel. The Grendel inventor works for Kel-Tec now. Have not personally fired one but have seen several favorable reviews. Only problem I've heard about is you have to correctly load your mags every time and not just cram the bullets in them just any ole way.

I've played with one at the range- and it's just as finicky as an AMT I used to have. It is accurate, but couldn't get through a full mag without at least one or more malfunctions.

I'd suggest a S&W 48, 648, 43 or a Taurus 992 if you want reliability and accuracy, and most of them you can put a scope on. If you want a reliable piece with the same power and have your heart set on a self-loader, an FN five seven might be a better choice. One other suggestion would be a Ruger single-six with the magnum cylinder, but I haven't had good experiences with the accuracy of them, but others hopefully have had a different and more pleasurable experience.

I had an AMT that was extremely accurate- it just wasn't reliable and I had to stick with Winchester ammunition. I sold it for more than I had in it- I picked up a model 48 and haven't looked back.
