Shot this today
was at the range today and the guy next to us pulled this neat .22 cal revolver for us to see. My Daughterinlaw was very intrigued by it and he offered to let us fire it. It seems to be made around the turn of the century and it marked oury d.d. It accepted .22 LR , didn't revolvers that old not take .22 LR? Anyway it was fun to shoot althought a little difficult to hold on to.

This is a revolver made by D.D.Oury. I do own a revolver in 7.65 mm.
It is a very well made revolver after 1900. The maker has also a patent for the Le Novo revolver. I do like the quality of the revolver. It is realy well made. It has a very long firing pin. The hamer is placed low. It is a pocketrevolver. The hammer is pleaces low so it woulden't stick in your pocket when drawn.
The revolver is in my collection. I love it.

If I am seeing it correctly, it opens to the right side. Is that correct?

Yes that is correct, at first I thought it ejected like a single action one at a time, but the guy pushed the cylinder out to the right and it ejected like a traditional double action revolver.

Is it French or Belgian? The M-1892 Lebel 8mm revolver cylinder also swings to the right.
Be careful firing that thing: in the 1930's, when high veloctiy .22 ammo appeared, they recessed the cylinders in case a case head blew. Centerfire cases are much stronger.
Colt Woodsman pistols made before that ammo appeared had to have the mainspring housing changed to the new, stronger style, so there must be some significant difference in ammo power and safety.

For which 7.65mm cartridge is your gun chambered?

The gun opens to the right because it is for the left hand. The right is for the sabre. Joe

Is that why the loading gate and ejector of a Colt SAA is on the right?

It is a pocket revolver. I do think for sure that it is ment for selfprotection. In city's is a sabre not very handy. The loading gate is also the safetydevice. When opend the revolveraction blocks. It is a very well made Belgian product. I can shoot modern made 7.65 ammo with it.
The 7.65 has a small rim. So it can be loaded in a cilinder.
Accuracie is terrible. You can't hit a complete barn with it. But it is ment for close by.
Here is mine.
