Not in my (admittedly limited) experience. I recently swapped a Uberti lever gun for a S&W 21 classic, with a guy in Texas. I priced it, online, before shipping. Priced UPS and FedEx out of curiosity, mostly, because I
KNEW that the post office would be cheaper.
Turned out that, when I added the 700 dollars insurance, that FedEx was 5 bucks cheaper. That was quite surprising.
