IMO, the 9C is a better carry gun because it's lighter and smaller. I had a 45C but went back to the 9C. I carry a fullsize mag with an X-GRIP adapter for a spare.

Caliber doesn't bother me at all. Win 127 +P+ will do the job.

I have an M&P45c. I put the Apex DCAEK in it and it cleaned the trigger up pretty nice. It is a little larger than the 9c, and about 5 ounces heavier, and of course is an 8 round versus a 12 round. I think it boils down to personal preference. I wanted a 4" barreled M&P pistol and the 45c is the only model I could find I liked. The other compacts are 3.5" and the full sizes are 4.5". I was looking for something that was comparable the size of a Glock 23 and the 45c fit that mold for me. If S&W made a 4", 13 round M&P40 I'd be all over it.

by my dept policy i can only carry smith or glock, 45 or 9mm, so my choices are limited. i like the mp9c, but im thinking that an off duty 45c coupled with my full size mp45 duty gun will work out ok. same round, same caliber, same magazines, etc...thnk you all for the input.

I've got one and like it very much. It shoots great and fits the hand nicely. It is a bit thicker and longer than say a 9c. But compared to compacts in the same caliber I think Smith did a great job. I sold a P220 Compact 45 because the M&P, in my opinion and for my needs, was the more comfortable carry gun.

I have always liked my Glock 30 but after having the 45c I found it is not as wide, not as heavy and I can shoot my 185 grain swc lead reloads in it. Recoil very similar and double taps are no problem. Comparing it to my Glock 23 it is almost the same weight and size, just about 3/8" longer.

Also have the M&P 9c and M&P 22. The 9c makes a good alternative for a lighter weight carry and use the 22 for more cheaper training.

The M & P is really starting to replace my Glocks lately.
