I was surprised that it went 83 posts before someone mentioned Davy Crockett. I am getting old.

Look closely at the rifle.
It's a Trapdoor made up to look like a flintlock.
It doesn't matter. Fes could 'grin down' a b'ar.

Paladin. Cool outfit, good with the ladies, always had a good throwaway line to put the bad guy in his place.

And somewhat later, Hipshot Percussion. Met Stan Lynde once; gave him some .36 cal. round balls for Hipshot's 51' Navies. (Gaye Abandon was quite the looker, too.)

Now my hero is Jack Elam as he was in Rio Lobo--the Craziest Old Coot of 'em all.

I looked up to the (relatively) incorruptible good guys like Optimus Prime (Transformers), Superman and Indiana Jones... However, I've always felt closer to fringe and reformed heroes like Michael Knight (Knight Rider), Zorro, Shane, Demonio Azul (lucha libre), Hannibal Smith (A-Team), Zatoichi, Han Solo, Snake Plissken, Hellboy, and the like. I generally don't see anything in absolutes, so I can relate to those who see and operate in figurative shades of gray.
