Where Did All These .44 Magnums Come From?
I'm in my 50's and didn't get a .44 Magnum until three years ago. I've always liked the mellower .44 Special and .45 Colts and handloaded moderate loads for those calibers. Even spending decades watching Dirty Harry movies I never got one. All of a sudden I have a Redhawk, a nickel 29-2 with pres. case and papers, an unconverted Super blackhawk, and a 4" 29-2. A .45 Auto parts gun and a 5" 27-2 shooter were sacrificed to get a couple of these with no looking back.

Interesting thread. Nice guns. Funny you post this today. I was shooting at a friends farm yesterday and he brought out a Ruger Redhawk that a neighbor wants to sell for $450.00. It's stainless with the 8 3/8 barrel, no box or papers. I'm not that famiar with the Ruger line, but I did like the looks of it. Dang you, I'm in my 50's and never owned one. Do you see how this works?

Are the stag grips on the Super Blackhawk abrasive when firing .44 Magnum ammo?

My nephew bought a Super New Model and it had these grips. He gave them to me since he like the pachmyres better and he knows I'm a stagaholic. I haven't tried them yet.

What happened to you happened to me back in the mid 80's.
I bought my first handgun, a 6" 586 and I loved it. I thought it was all that and a bag of chips.
Then my neighbor told me about 44's and how they were plentiful since most folks bought them from watching DH , took them to the range and after the first cylinder, they sold 'em. He was right. I bought a few with a 50 round count box missing 6.
I bought an S series 6.5" 29-2 from him and it was on! I could not look at the 586 without feeling sorry for it since it shot such small bullets.
I've been a fan since and I have more 44's than all others combined.
Helps that I cast and reload.
Nice collection you have there.

My joy over finally getting a redhawk in 44 mag ended after about 25 rounds. Those skinny ruger wood grips would allow the triggerguard to smack my finger mightily each time the trigger was pulled. Next time out the packy's were on the revolver. From what I heard from a super redhawk shooter its even worse. Gotta love them packy's. Frank

Good Morning, Old Guys:
I am concerned that you old fellows are too old for .44 Magnums.
As a "Understanding Forum Member" I am willing to accept your donations of .44 Magnums. I will even pay half of the shipping charges!
Your Buddy,
Jimmy

They are Kuracs alright. Cocobola (sic?). They bounced around various N frames and ended up on that 29. And Chud333. I like that short nickel 29-2. I forgot one .44 magnum. My trusty old Browning B-92 carbine. An all time fave.

I know the feeling, I have several .44mag's that are in " shooter" rotation, with at least that many sitting comfortably NIB in the safe..
and I don't even want to get started on the specials...
although, the one thats getting the most use right now isn't a Smith,
it's a Ruger 77/44 thats been keeping my attention lately..

Nice selection there Wyatt! I only have two right now, both 629's. I also fell to the Dirty Harry bug back in the late '70's and bought my first 29, a 6 incher. I carried it/shot it for a lot of years, then at one point got stupid and sold it to pay bills (I will not do that again!). I also had a 4" nickel 29-2, and got an offer I couldn't refuse at the time (turned a $300 profit on it in six months of owning it). I will get another 29 when the right one shows up. Love those .44's!
