Default Better Hang on to them......

Went to a Gunshow in Eastern Indiana today and WOW,
could not believe asking prices at the show for P&R revolvers
from the 70's ....
Saw a 8 3/8" model 29-2 nickel in presentation case LNIB
asking price was 1195.00
Saw a model 57 with shorter barrel 6" i believe, same condition different seller, asking price was 1250.00
All in all most older Smiths and Colts we're asking crazy
money. Did'nt see anyone grabbing their wallets either.
If you have nice shape P&R Smiths and earlier Colt revolvers
better hang on to them. Or maybe .......
These we're just asking prices i know but even with haggling
room they still seemed awfully high. Impressions ????
Are you all seeing the same trend in your areas???

Hang on to all those pre-lock Smith revolvers. Their value continues to increase.

I noticed the same thing the last several show's I attended. High prices and very few buyers. Gun show prices are over the top at the moment in my opinion, still some bargins to be found though.

I think we're in a run up to another gun and ammo bubble. I don't know that I'll buy another firearm this year, but I'm going to be hunting for ammo bargains. Or maybe just ammo.

I'll probably become a familiar face at the nearest Walmart with an ammo selection.

That and magazines. Can't have too many magazines.

And I don't mean "Sports Illustrated".

I was at a show in Medina Ohio recently. Guy had a minty 29-2, blue, 8 3/8th in it's wood case. Had a price tag of $1000.00. Some other fella beat me to it......I wanted it. I THINK the guy managed to talk him down a bit.
Another guy had same exact gun for $800.00.....minty but NO case.......someone beat me to that one too!

Yes, they're getting more and more expensive but around here they seem to be selling despite the high prices because I keep getting to the table too late

I passed a nice 27-2, blue, 8 3/8th, presentation box @ $825. Could probably have got it for 8 but I don't want it at 7.

Don't see how a guy could go wrong buying Fed 525rd bulk 22lr when you can get it for $20 or less.

Hi Chuck. With the prices you report, I am glad that I didn't drive over from the north side of Indy. I believe you and the others are correct about what the future holds for increasing gun prices. Skip48

Skip,
You saved a long drive for yourself and did'nt miss much. I made a walk around all tables and then left. Even was a 19-3 blue 4" at the
show, no box, minor wear and guy was asking 6 bills. I did make it to a "wallyworld" later that day and bought 3 boxes of Fed. .357 mag ammo 158gr SJSP for 23 beans a box. I'm gonna get serious about my
reloading this spring. Got the brass and bullets. Just gotta find some Unique and 2400 powder and some primers. I'm not planning on buying
anymore firearms this year----yeah right---, but i am going to start stockpiling some ammo.
