Default Working man again

Looks like retirement is over for the summer. I worked at the Rocky Mountain Fishing and Camping area last year through the summer. Lots of mowing and weed eating. Helping the Rangers set out traps, cutting down trees, real work but enjoyable except for the heat in July and August.

The head Ranger called me today to see if I wanted to come back this year.My first thought was AMMO MONEY,so I said "Oh Yeah."
Time to break out the sweatbands, shinguards, and snake boots. The rattlers are BIG up that mountain.
Any of you Georgia guys who fish there, look me up.I'll be riding around in a green state truck with the air conditioning on. I hope. Starting May 1st.

Ya know something.....I'd love to be able to take the summer off and go up there with you. Three months of good outdoors manual labor would absolutely do this boy some good-shake out the cobwebs break an honest sweat and sleep like you sleep only after a hard day's work. maybe one day..........

Thanks, guys. I always keep my eyes peeled if I'm working around the lakefront, and watch where I step when I get out of the truck up on the mountain.
The good part about this job is there is no push.If you get too hot you can get in the truck, turn on the air, ride around and cool off,and stay hydrated.
The DNR Rangers there are all really good guys, and they know I'm ex LE,so we hit it off well.
If you work there one time and they call you to come back the next summer, they like you and you did something right. I think my partner from last year is coming back too.We were a good team. Of course a little extra income doesn't hurt either.Eric said he was pretty sure he would be getting us more money this year but the job will be only 4 1/2 months instead of 6. That's enough of the humidity for me anyway. I have my own place to keep up on off days.Living in the woods is year 'round maintenance.

Thumbs up

Way to go Stu! Sounds like a summer job many of us retired persons would love to have. Extra money to chase down those pesky S&Ws. Be careful out there! Skip48

It sounds like you enjoy the work, being active, and being outside in general. Thanks for your service as a LEO, and have a great summer out there!
