Default Savage 93 R 17

I have been eye balling the 17 HMR cartridge since it's come out and today I picked up this brand new Savage 93 R 17. A pair of Leopold rings and a Redfield 3.5 to 12 scope and I was in the middle of the X ring at 100 yards after only 25 rounds of sight in. Started at 25 and worked my way up since I didn't have a Laser spud for 17 caliber.
The last 5 rounds were one elongated hole at 100 yards. I expected to buy several different brands of ammo and try them out, but got lucky with the Hornady Varmit Express.
It takes a lot to impress me, but this gun and cartridge has. Right out of the box, just a great, quality, accurate combo.
I do believe that tomorrow I will have my Fox Pro call going on the crows out back.

Moosedog,
You'r going to like it lots.
My son picked up one as a step up from 22lr for the 12 yo. She loves it, but no more than he does.
Be well

I'll say that Savage has always produced a quality gun at a fair price, this one is premier in my opinion.

I was at the Arizona Game and Fish Outdoor Expo today. Several gun manufacturers were there displaying their wares. For a nominal ammo fee, you could try them out. I really wanted to try that Savage (and a couple of their others), but was wrangling three tired little ones, so I missed out. Some people turn up their noses at Savage, but my Model 24 .223/12 ga. is my favorite gun. Have fun.

I am a fan of Savage also, I just wish I could find a nice heavy wood stock for my MKII FV. Good shooting!

I bought a Savage 93F in .22 WMR for hog hunting in the AL WMAs. Excellent rifle! I was very pleased for the $230 this rifle cost me. Mine has the Accutrigger, which is very good especially against the non-Accutriggered 93F.

I am now a fan of Savage rifles!
