alligator 1, hotel guest 0
Port Allen Louisiana
Hotel employees saw an alligator outside the hotel yesterday morning, guests came out to look at it and the sheriff's dept was called to take it away. In the meantime some guest, probably a 'Swamp People" wannabe, walked out and wanted a try at subduing the gator. When he tried to grab the gator it GRABBED him! Bit him on the arm and he was taken to the hospital for treatments, he was not badly injured. The gator had blood on his jaws as he was taped up and loaded into a pickup by the nuciance alligator guy.
Like the say on the bayou "maudit couillon"
I wonder if the guest said "I'm not an alligator expert but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn last night" as he was taken away.
Details can be seen at Gator caught at Port Allen motel after biting guest | WBRZ News 2 Louisiana : Baton Rouge, LA |
Sorry, no video around yet

Silly fellow. Everyone knows that you're supposed to poke strange animals with a stick instead...
The guards simply shot the one living in the pond near the playground a year or so ago. The two near the golf course are still doing fine.
PMO has a special number to call if you find one in your yard. They tell residents not to just shoot them, someone is supposed to come and try to capture it first.

How many times had he stood calmly back there on the duckboards and listened to respectable-looking people talk about raping the hotel penguins?

Wonder if hs arm was broken as well as punctured? I hope the event served as a reality check for witnesses who watch too much redneck TV.
The general nature shows that feature interacting with wild animals are also to blame, but you can't cure idiocy. I'm waiting for some zoo animal that Julie Scardino/a is showing Jay Leno to bite Jay. A monkey or macaw taking off his ear ought to do the trick. Ditto for nervous Ned zoo man Jack Hanna and David Letterman. At least, Hanna seems more afraid of the animals. I bet he's seen some injuries caused by them. All it'd take for people to become aware that animals are dangerous is for a mad mamba to get loose in the studio, or a puff adder to bite as it's handled.
I read the medical report of a Gaboon viper biting Marlin Perkins with one fang on one finger for a brief instant. Perkins nearly died.

Too bad he wasn't nipped south of the border, if you get my meaning. that would have insured that future procreation was not an option.

I used to work at a Sear's store while in college. We sold young caimans as pets. they were maybe a foot long. They were fast and had needle sharp teeth. I dreaded having to pick them up.
It was illegal to sell alligators, but these South American crocodilians got past that ban. Some species can exceed 20 feet when grown. I wonder what pet buyers thought they'd do with them as they grew?! What must have become of them as families realized that their pet was dangerous? We're probably lucky not to have breeding caimans here, especially if they were sold in Florida. Freed pythons have indeed established breeding populations there, as have Nile monitor lizards.

Used to catch baby "gators" around New Iberia, LA when I was a kid. Ever wonder why most of the "gator boys" shoot adults first? Idiot!

My brother and I were golfing in FL.
There were a few alligators on one fairway.
Dude that lived there said - Awww, they won't bother you.
I told him - WRONG, They're already bothering me.
Bears and moose tend to strike me the same way.
They're best just left alone... And hopefully, they'll leave me be too

If you fish in the area around Houston, your gonna run across some gators. It never once occured to me to "subdue" one or to approach one for any reason. I have, however, beaten on a cottonmouth with my fishing pole because it was eating my stringer full of fish. I was young and learned a valuable lesson. USE AN ICE CHEST.
