The Kentucky Derby
Would any of you thoroughbred fans out there care to post your pick?
I am leaning toward Gemologist for his gutsy win in the Wood Memorial. I don't feel that any of the speed horses will hang on for a mile and a quarter.
However Alpha who just failed to catch Gemologist might not be a bad choice. Of course there are about a dozen other picks that might not be too bad either.

I'll go out on a limb and predict that the horse who won it last year will not win it again this year.
(You'd be amazed at how many Cokes I've won with that!)

I went to the track yesterday and made a little money betting the favorites. Hot and dry, women in sundresses and high heels. What's not to like?
I'm picking a gray horse in the derby, just don't know which one?
Judging by the ladies attire yesterday, the economy is in for a boom because the hem lines are definitely high.
Here's a shot of gate 1 and the Barbaro Memorial.

I think Elmer's Glue will beat Alpo followed closely by Kibble. (Hey they might be worth millions now but someday they will only be worth what you can get per pound)

Bodemeister will probably come off as the favorite, but I'm going to go with Gemologist. Alpha may have a shot if the speed horse run them out.

The BEST BET for the DERBY is:
A bunch of bourbon will be consumed.

Well, Monday will sure be interesting. A local radio guy with a reputation for, shall we say, excessive enjoyment of fermented barley products, stated on the air that he'd contacted someone he knew to bet on I'll Have Another just because he liked the name. I have a feeling he'll be insufferable...
