Any other flashlight junkys?
A couple months ago I discovered a real flashlight! A streamlight 3C model. I was beyond myself with this light and how bright it is! I then purchased a pro tac 2L for my pocket to add to my edc, again..... Sheesh that thing is bright and fits in my hand.
After I found quality flashlights my google foo was on and I discovered Fenix. Since then I now have a fenix e21, woooo I love that thing!
After I discovered quality lights I tossed my maglights! I now consider maglight junk and behind on times.
Any other flashlight junkys here?

Be very, very careful! The flashlight addiction can be a terrible thing. Whatever you do...don't go to CandlePowerForums.
You have been warned.

I just checked the time stamps of the above posts. Does flashlight addiction have anything to do with being up in the middle of the night?
Andy
P.S. What's my excuse? I ate something last evening which interferes with my sleep -I'll go back to bed shortly.
P.P.S. BTW, I bought my first "real" flashlight several months ago -a Fenix LD20. Finally, a light that actually works.

Yes i am a Flashlight Junkie. I carry one in my pocket here at my place 100% of the time, a Surefire E1e. I use it several times a day.
When ever I leave my place, I carry my A2 Aviator, and the E1e...
When I travel and hunt I carry several other SureFires including a M6.
I use SureFires for weapon Lights as well. I have never had a SureFire fail me.
They are well worth the money IMHO...

But they still make a fine case to hold quality parts for a nice light. I bought a Black Bear light many years ago when they only put out a little over 950 lumens. Since then output has gone up as well as the availibility of different versions and accessories.
Welcome to Black Bear Flashlights

My EDC flashlight is a Streamlight ProTac 2AA and it ROCKS!!! Light, thin, and really bright. I've also been amazed at how long and how bright this light runs on just 2 AA batteries. Highly recomended.
You never know how many times, day or night, that you could use a light until you EDC one.

I don't know if I would classify as a junkie, but I always carry a powerful pocket light, the one in my pocket now with a Cree R5 emitter throws 230 lumens on high using a 14500 rechargeable. I can't afford those expensive Surefire brand lights so all mine come from Deal Extreme where I can get or build lights with far more power than a Surefire for one quarter the cost.

I was given an Underwater Kenetics 22101 Yellow flashlight at a trade show last month. This is the BEST flashlight I've ever used. I was testing it in the back yard and my wife thought it was heat lightening.

Certainly better than anything I've ever had or seen. It's actually more than I need for my purposes -two modes with five settings, but I wanted one with squared shoulders so it would not roll off a table, and one with a clip so I could stick it in my pocket without worrying it would come out. This one had both those features, so I bought it.

Here's my experience with Fenix. I have a TK11,LD25 and a E21. I bought the TK11 for a weapon light that's on a gun in my safe, I think I've turned it on maybe a half dozen times to check to see if it's working. It works only because it's not used.
The LD25 worked for about six months and then one of the modes stopped working. Sense I bought these on line directly from Fenix, I sent it back under warranty for repair. Long story short, they had to send it to CHINA for repairs. After nine weeks I finally got it back. The absolute worst customer service I've ever seen in my 55 years.
The E21 was my wifes light. This light is about eight months old. It gets so hot that it corrodes the battery's within a couple of weeks. She told me the other night that it stopped working. After messing with it for awhile, I threw it in the garbage.
I hope you guy's have better luck with yours!!!

"Be Prepared" I am on old Boy Scout and maybe that is why I am so fond of guns and flashlights. It seems that most gun folks have more lights than non-gun folks.

The Zebralight SC30w is in my pocket every workday. The TAD edition Lenslight titanium mini is my weekend light. I have several others but use these the most.

FLASHLIGHTS
For my money I like the Streamlight Stinger, with 2, on-off switches, one on the side and one on the end. They stay bright for a long time, are rechargable and are guaranteed. I have several one in each of the cars.
The second light that I have and really like is the 5.11 Tactical series light for life. You get between 1-2 hours of light and it recharges in 90 seconds either on 12 volt or 110. Great Lights!

I just can't get into tiny little lights that take those little 123 batteries.
I have been buying as many quality 6 volt lights and bulbs that I can find. I need to take a good photo, but my favorite are the 1950's Ray-o-vac Sportsman lights- for their time and even today, they are very bright. Just make certain when you buy batteries for those things, that you get an alkaline 6v, and not a carbon one. I'm planning on gutting one of those batteries soon so I can make a holder using the new generation of rechargeable AA's (which hold charge far longer without use) that will fit inside of it.
If a flashlight isn't big and heavy enough to use it as a weapon, what good is it? A 6 cell Maglight is a fairly significant club.
I guess I'm a flahslight junky, just in a differnt way.

I recently picked up an Olight Warrior M20S-X. As beefy and sturdy as this thing is, I can't imagine dishing out twice the $$ for a Surefire.
Truth be told, I work in a school in a pretty rough area, and it's about the only thing I'm allowed to have that I could actually defend myself with.

I wrote an aticle on Princeton-Tec lights and have about eight, in various sizes. The one with two AAA's (Blast model) is a common pocket light, even in my home, lest we experience a power failure or I need to find something in a dark corner of a closet. The one by the computer takes four AA's, their Tec-40 model. Very compact for what it does. It's brighter than my old 3 C-cell MagLite or my ancient (1980) Kel-Lite, which is the high-end model with three-position switch. (Four C-cells) I also rely on their four AAA (Rage model). One is by the bed, along with their LED version, which isn't as bright, but the batteries last a long time. I used to read with it in my car at work.
When I go out, I take a tiny Inova that takes a single AA. It's very bright, made of tough aluminum, and is just a brilliant item. And I have a larger Inova with a startlingly bright beam. I began using it in lieu of the big Kel-Lite in my final three years of security work that augmented my income as a writer. Too small to be a club, it could be a kongo stick, I guess.
I don't see Inova mentioned much on the Net, but they seem very well made and a better value than SureFire.
I've been fascinated by good flashlights since I was a kid.
One of my favorite flashlight stories involved my son searching the basement of one of Saddam Hussein's palaces in 2003. His weapon light went dead and he had to find his way out with an Inova light about the size of a quarter. Fortunately, no enemy troops were in that basement...

I can't afford to buy all the SureFire flashlights I would like to, but I have a few.
My favorites are the Defender models -- a combination flashlight and pocket stick. The crenelated bezel and base cap can do some serious skin damage to an attacker if you get jumped in the dark.

I've been a flashlight junky for well over 30 yr's now and a few years ago
started using Streamlights, then switched the "stable" over to their new
C4 LED technology after getting my first C4 Streamlight.
Below are just a few of the ways I carry them....
In a previous flashlight thread someone had mentioned the Streamlight
Stylus Pro so I had to give them a try. Shown below in 3 of the 4 different
colors offered, black not shown. Since my wife & son also have their own
"stable" of Streamlights the different colors some in handy around here.
I have since added the Streamlight "Micro Stream" pocket light
to the mix, which is nothing more than a shortened Stylus Pro.
I also have a couple of Streamlight "Clip Mates", one in white LED & the other green.

When my boy came to visit over Christmas he brought his newest light which he uses on his bike at night. It's about the size of my index finger and has MANY lumens; it lit up the stop sign two blocks down the street. I realized I was a little behind the times in flashlights.
I really don't need that much light. I now have a Fenix LD 40 for around the house. It would hurt if you got bonked on the head with it, too. For my travel bag I have a little LD 18, which produces enough light to turn a motel room into day. My only criticism of it is that it's round and rolls off the bedside table. I duct taped a piece of stiff cardboard to it, so now it has a flat place and doesn't roll.
For my bedside table at home and for my two vehicles I have L.L. Bean wind-up lights so I don't have to worry about batteries going dead.

After using and appreciating the Maglite for decades, I too finally ditched them for the Fenix LD-20 about 6 months ago, and like it very much. On the high setting, it's brighter than all the battery eating Maglites I've ever owned, combined. I wanted something bright & lightweight, that runs on two AA batteries, and it has worked out very well. I hope it stands the test of time. I've dropped it on the concrete already a couple of times.
I still carry the 3 cell Mags in my vehicles for the swingable factor, but since I got a license to carry, I dont consider the light as much as a weapon.
I'd like to know how many hundred $$ I've spent on D batteries for those Mags over the years. Gotta love them tho, they sure seemed to rule the flashlight scene for many years.

Gosh, I thought this thread was about vintage flashlights. I have a Winchester 2 cell WW2 vintage in my shop for looking for dust bunnies. Does that count?

That Winchester counts it is a collecter series. I suspect man has fostered a relationship with lighting devices since the first cave that he encountered the bear.Several have mentioned Olight and for and the money they are great.I have both Olight and Fenix in several different models from small to real throwers but enjoy the Olights and the are weapon friendly.

After using Maglites and Surefires my new Fenix TK41 is hard to beat.
I have had it since Christmas and use it every night with out a issue.
The 4way switch saves the batteries, and on high the beam it easily illuminates targets at two hundred yards.
Uses eight AA's.
Cost was $130.
Highly recommend.

The new Maglight led's are pretty awesome. You can get 2 or 3 D-cell models and they are BRIGHT and stay on for a long time.

I don't know, do 16 Surefires and 5 Malkoff drop-ins make me a junkie?
I still keep a 3D Maglite (with a Malkoff drop-in) in my truck because it's size has, uh, other uses.

I have a few, some Surefires, Steamlight weapon lights, LED Lensers. Some Brinkman and Maglight D-Cell Monstrosities. Who says you can't carry a Billy Club?
My favorite is my Surefire E2D, that will ruin someones day no doubt. Its a nice flashlight too!

My name is tyusclan, and I'm a flashlightaholic.
I have an Intova diver's light that I keep on my belt all the time. I keep a flashlight and a headlight in all the vehicles, and two flashlights and a headlight beside the bed. No matter how many lights I have I always stop and ooh and aah at any cool-looking light I happen up on.
The last three Mag-lites (of various sizes) I've had have been junk. I won't buy another one.

Let me just say my Maglite has saved my bacon on more than one occasion while one duty.
The Maglite LED 3D is hard to beat for a duty/patrol flashlight.

I got some from Battery Junction, a good place to do business with—no connection other than repeat customer. The two, three, and four cell ones work ok, noticeably brighter. The small ones suck, IMO.
