After 18yrs of LE, I decided to retire and worked for a mechanical contractor, M-Fri, no weekends, no holidays. Fantastic job, company got slow and economy tanked the job-company.
Took on a part time Security job. The hiring guy asked if I wanted armed or unarmed work? Difference was .50/hr. Told him "unarmed" unless they needed otherwise. Got placed in a private, gated subdivision with only 6 homes. Best job ever, all co workers are ex LEOs, none are interested in Banks(armed) or other high risk jobs.
All click right together, all know the same radio signals, and I am the youngest at 64 yrs old! Rest of guys are 70 give or take, and do we have a chuckle on the 20ish Captains who pick up the time sheets! Those guys will have ulcers in their 30's the way they complain and cry about the blues! I believe the words are generation gap.
Glad I stumbled on to this, we have all the working hours we want, split the weekends, basically run our own world there. One hook though, we wear white dress shirts and a tie, no uniform. Can't ask for more. People who live there are all pretty cool, no problems.
