Default Air Supply, the band

Guess what I'm doing tonight. A promoter friend of mine has invited my wife and I to have dinner with Air Supply tonight before their concert. This should make a pretty good Mothers' Day gift. Anyone out here know anything about them? I know they have had a few hits. My wife is really excited! Free dinner and 2nd row seats.

Yes, sorry to say, but when I was in high school, anyone found not immediately changing the station when an Air Supply song came on would lose their Man Card, and/or be beaten. If Chuck Norris and John Wayne were to listen to just one Air Supply song together, they would likely take off to Vermont to spend the rest of their lives together in a state recognized civil union. No offense to Vermont, great state, or to state recognized civil unions, if that's your thing; I'm just saying that the Air Supply music is very powerful...

That being said, I'm sure they're great guys, and you'll have a great time. Let us know how it goes! BTW, their big hit was "I'm All Out Of Love". I know this because I was stuck in many high school dances during a slow dance to that song... Lead singer had a very good/strong/"pretty" voice.

Air Supply is basically an Australian male duet duo that wore tight leather pants and sang the quintessential make-out, *chick music of the early 80's. They are very talented and have lovely tenor voices. One album sold five-million copies. Some say their music is timeless and perfect when drinking and staying home on a rainy Saturday night after breaking-up with one's girlfriend.

*Mild rhythmic syncopation, repetitive melodic phrasing, interweaving vocal harmony, major key tonality, heartbreaking lyrics and vocal harmonies. You get my drift.

I took a date to see them in concert around 1981 or 1982. They were one of the hot bands then and the concert was actually pretty good. That was 30+ years ago so they gotta be getting old.

They were a great band. Yes, the chicks loved them, but it was pure romance, and who doesn't want that on a date?
Their best song was "Making love out of nothing at all". That one was written by Jim Steinman. He wrote all of the songs on Meatloaf's albums. That should speak for itself.

Oh, by the way, I am a HOPELESS romantic. Quite successful as far as my experience with Women (I started dating at 15, was too young to drive. Fortunately, she was 17, so she did). I carry two guns most of the time and am rough and tough and made of Double Stuff, just like an Oreo cookie. I have a lifetime "Man Card". That said, I can proudly say I actually took my Wife to a Barry Manilow concert once. That tops anything Air Supply ever did.

I went to see them at the behest of GF at an Indian Casino outside of San Diego in the late 90's. They were old and really flamboyant back then....

We didn't stay for the entire concert.

I did two videos with them back in the 80s. All that i remember that will help you through dinner is the tall one doesn't like ketsup.

I think the are the Gibbs bros. Andy sometimes makes news. I believe they've had some drug problems, and that one of the group may have died from that. Wiki probably has a good site about them.

I didn't realize that some find their music to be gay, or that they're liked mainly by women. Their voices are high, but the songs are good, and I generally listen when they come on the car radio, but haven't bought any of their CD's.

Yeah, like the Beach Boys, they are older now, but still sing well. Either group beats the heck out of having to listen to rap or hip-hop garbage.

Yes, but there were albums like that you HAD to have in your collection cause the chicks LOVED 'em.

Seals & Crofts leap to mind. James Taylor. There are others...

Air Supply definitely brings on the ranbows tho...

... not that there's anything wrong with that.
