Traded some junk for some more junk!!
Had a bunch of baseball cards tht I was given back in 1997. I'm not a baseball kind of guy, so they have been sitting round taking up space. Wife said get rid of them.
Placed an ad in Craigslist.
Ended up trading them for an old Raven 25 Auto.
Think I'm gonna have it bead blasted (by my BIL) and then paint it with either Krylon or Rustoleum.
What do you think??

I got a Raven in a trade many years ago, 1974 I think. Wife & daughter carried it in their purses when working nights. I took it back when daughter married. The damn thing was full of gum, hair, bobby pins. & what ever. Next day it shot all 6 rounds without a tick. For a 30 dollar gun don't sell it short. No, it's not a S&W but it works

They generally work fine. A nice one fetches around 100. Try the flat black krylon paint and primer all in one. You do not have to blast or otherwise extensively prep it first

Humm, yeah...not exactly. I bought a .25 acp (pretty sure it was a Raven) in the early 80's I believe it was, anyway, I was talking it up in a store that I called on back then. They wanted me to go get it out of my car, so I did. As we passed it around, their warehouse manager came in and took one look at it and said:
"Boy I hate these things."
I asked him why and he said:
"I got shot with one over in Florence, S.C. several years ago."
I looked at him and asked him if he was badly hurt. He said:
"It made me so mad when I got shot that I took it away from him & beat the ever loving crud out of the guy."
We all laughed, but I went out and traded it in the next day. Now the guy was about 300 lbs of muscle, but still I didn't want something that only makes people mad if I had to shoot them. Just saying...

About 1974 I was in a German bar near Frankfurt when a German woman my buddy had his arm around took her little .25 out of her pocket, put the muzzle against her ex-boyfriends back and killed him with one shot. I thought it would be interesting to wait until the Polizie showed up, I didn't know they would come in with full-auto sub guns and put everyone against the wall until they sorted out the good from the bad! Big old boy just said "ummph" and went face down where he sat.. worked pretty well for her.

I wouldn't waste any time on it. Just be sure it is unloaded and put it in a drawer somewhere.
"Whatever you do, DO NOT LOAD IT! If you load it, someday you may shoot someone with it. If they find out about it, they may become angry with you."
(Borrowed from the late Jeff Cooper)

I had a Raven .25 once. The recoil spring was so worn out..you had to remove it and stretch it out for every 6 rounds you shot..or it wouldn't return to battery for the next mag full of ammo.

Most of the folks I've seen in the last 43 years that got hit with a .25 didn't die. However, a fair amount of them did. It's all about shot placement. I'd rather have a .25 than nothing at all but I'd rather have something else. Another problem is like the one mentioned above. After getting hit it's probably not going to be an immediate knock out shot. The receiver of the .25 round or rounds may still have time to do something to you even if it's eventually a fatal wound. I worked a case years ago where a guy was shot with a .25. He killed his attacker with a knife and then drove himself to the emergency room. He dropped dead walking in the door. The fuss was over a dice game. Your gun would probably work good on rodents....if you can hit them.

Just be sure to color coordinate it with your toe nail polish so it will be easier to hide in your boot.

I recall years ago in Pittsburgh that a man climbed up on a bridge and held the cops at bay for most of the day with a .25 auto. At the end, he put the gun to his head and fired. He survived. I am not a .25 auto kind of guy.
Seriously, I wouldn't refinish it, I do not think that would improve the value.

My issue regarding the .25 has nothing to do with any thing pointed out above but with the price of the rounds. It's EXPENSIVE!!!! I'd much rather have a .22 based on ammo availability and price considerations alone as I think it's an equal stopper with the .25.
Cajun's test on ammo availability-if I can walk into Fred Boudreaux's "quick stop, gas station, feed store and ammo for hunting" store and Fred has it, that's what I want my guns chambered in. Examples .30-30 good, .338 Lapula not so good; .22 rf good-FN 5.7 not so good....and so on. Now if you shop at the quicky mart with the glass partition across from the projects, they may very well stock a large selection of .25's .40's and 9's but I don't shop there.
Well, guess my grumpy old fart colors are showing....

HA...HA...HA, some very entertaining responses. Go ahead and enjoy that gun. It may not be the best made gun, but it is a good hobby-"something to do project". More fun than baseball cards.

Well, one more Raven story: Many years ago I was looking in the handgun case at Fed Ord in South El Monte, CA. A small tough-looking guy was there with his son, maybe 7 years old. The little boy was enjoying looking in the case and happened to go in front of me. The Dad shouted "Hey! You don't go in front of a man when he's looking at guns!" We got talking, I made sure he knew it was no problem at all; then I saw a Raven in the case and mentioned it. He said "Hm, a Raven, I got popped with one of those." He pulled up his T-shirt to show a large, ugly, puckered scar in his belly, right about where the appendix lives! As others have said, results vary, for sure!

Paint the slide gloss black and make it a Pinto.
You could install a partridge front sight and adjustable rear sight to have the Zamak Cup Target Match Model.
