They've been used for years at the Big Sandy machinegun shoots.
At night they secure glow sticks to them, pretty cool watching a line of tracers reach out and nail one.

RC planes are one of my other hobbies but I haven't been active for the last few years. If the airframe is made of corrugated plastic (like the temporary outdoor signs, shot wouldn't have too much of an effect on it. The engine is pretty stout cast aluminum but the radio equipment would be pretty vulnerable. Maybe the judicious use of kevlar would shield it. Kevlar and graphite fabric are used often in RC models so it is well-known to builders. If the radio goes out, the plane becomes an un-guided missile with a one-horsepower, ten-inch fiberglass knife spinning at 8000 to 10000 RPM on the front. I've seen people taken to the hospital from the flying field with potential loss of fingers. I have a few scars in the backs of my fingers from starting engines without a "chicken stick" or electric starter. Oddly enough, the electic motors can cause the worst injuries. A "gassie" will stall when body parts get into the prop but an electric will just draw more current from the battery and keep on cutting until the fuse pops.

I don't know whether it would be more fun shooting or flying!

Looks like a blast. Looked like a scattering of small round compartments on the bottom. I wonder if they filled them with some kind of compound to make a flash and smoke when hit.

I want a franchise! I flew RC several years ago and got into aerobatics big time. (pre 3D). I could easily fulfill the whole scenario.

That is way cool fun!!
