Default Corrections to the SC of S&W Thread

In trying to verify the date of a M 58 41 Magnum, on page 221 at the upper right corner it states under Engineering and Production changes, that the M 58 was discontinued in 1969? The paragraph before that (above the picture) states Total production... 1964-1977. The serial numbers go higher than 1969.??

Can this be verified and perhaps added to that thread?

Corrections to "The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson"

I had to get the book out to see what you were talking about. That does indeed look like a mistake. They were produced until 1977. Take the same book and look it up by serial number and you should find about when it was made.

Good luck with that. As busy as the 2 authors are I don't
think they will be putting out another. IMHO

Drop a PM to DCWilson. He may be keeping track of them.
I think Rick Nahas is aware of many more errors not on the lsit.

If I see him soon, I'll ask about an updated list.

I'm collecting corrections to SCSW as they come to my attention, but not in any systematic way. In the private S&WCA forum there is a location where I can post such compiled corrections. I'll make sure this one gets mentioned there.

If anyone has corrections to report, I'm willing to hear about them in a PM. I'm not saying that is preferable to posting them in the lounge or one of the categorized forums, but if you post in one of those places please make sure I hear about it. I spend a fair amount of time here, but I don't (can't!) read every thread.

Ultimately it is the authors who need to hear about corrections, not me. I am just a conduit in this process. I am trying to get randomly discovered corrections piled up in one place where the authors can find them more easily. I am sure that many collectors notify the authors directly of discovered problems in the text; those notes will probably never appear in a forum post or be reported to me.

Thank you. I did not know who or how to mention it. Now I do.
