I had a friend from California wanting to shoot a full auto, so we headed out to the range with a few toys, he had a great time and bought the beer and steaks for an after action party once we got home.
Poor guy, he asked what vehicle we were taking, and I told him the side by side (which are street legal here).
Deer in headlight look, he ask what a shotgun had to do with it.
Ahh well, life is good in a free state.

I don't know where you are in Arizona, but it looks like you were shooting near a canal embankment. I remember back in the '60s when we used to shoot high power rifles using a canal bank as a backstop in Scottsdale at Scottsdale Road and Bell - no way to do that now. I suspect they could mine a lot of lead there even today.

Ain't Arizona wonderful? It must be like heaven to a California shooter shackled by that state's idiotic laws crafted by idiot propeller-head politicians. Be glad you have the chance to really enjoy yourself in one of the few free states left!

It's a private area on a ranchers property right by a canal.
A Pinal Co. Sheriff came by to see who was out there as he keeps an eye on the property.
He asked what we were shooting and I showed him, his only comment was "pretty darn cool, I wish I was off so I could shoot", no asking for paperwork, no eeew evil guns, no lectures.
The Cali guy was freaking out, he thought he was going to jail!

California wasnt always that bad. I have target practiced along side the freeway with a on duty chp officer, went out shooting a number of times with LA county deputy friends and also some LAPD officers. I have been out of touch with the guys for about 13 years now and know things are different. The old hands I knew were great. Of course you have to know them first. Things probley havent really changed all that much today if you really knew the guys. But then again maybe they feed them different since I left.
