Best medicine for a bear attack
Believe it or not -
It's a shot of tetanus vaccine
Then the morphine and (most likely) a round of powerful antibiotics.
However - You may want to get at the opium alkaloid first

Although unlikely, I'd recommend some rabies vaccine thrown in also.

Sorry - I just figured that everyone keeps a supply of both with them.
Good points for those who go into the woods unprepared
P.S. Your maggots also make great fishing bait -- If you keep them between your teeth and gums they even stay nice and warm in the winter.
DO NOT do this if you also chew backr --- Kills your maggots

I have two solutions to that problem.
#1 don't be there
#2 If you have to be there have a full crew served full auto weapon preferably 20mm caliber.
#3 if all else fails a tactical nueclear air strike. That'll take care of the problem. Frank

I have carried a small Beretta Bearcat, 22 short, on several back-packing trips with my girl friend(s).. It has proven to work well..
You need to slowly turn and face the bear,,
yell loudly to get his/her attention,,
take a good two handed stance,,
and shoot your girl friend in the knee,,
then back away slowly..
Works every time..

As a given, morphine/Dilaudid, tetanus, broad-spectrum antibiotics --
for inspiration to recover, Angelina Jolie as the rotating nurse on the night shift, and the US women's soccer team goalie on the day shift.
For the bear, a big basket of fruit, some peanut butter sandwiches,
lots of honey-drenched pastries, and a catch and release into a remote bear friendly area (northwest Maine, Canada's NW Territories) --
because I was in his living space and he was just doing what bears do.

Man - I need to be going to your hospital!
When I've been in the nurses more resemble the Russian soccer team goalie.

45-70 be the trick...so long as you can use a homemade recipe... Store bought rounds are about as good as gravy that comes in a packet mixed with water

Check out garrett cartridges, 45-70 for rabbits to elephant. 500 gr steel jacket at only 35,000 psi, you could run it in the marlin lever.
