Default Birthday Party At The Range

Had my birthday party at the range this weekend.

Started with lunch as soon as we arrived. Sliced turkey breast, with barbecue sauce or wrapped in bacon and basted with homemade apple wine. My wife made her own, famous, hard rolls, cole slaw, a cheese ball, and olive cheese appetizers. (My mom used to make the last recipe for parties when I was a kid. The
secret is using sharp cheddar in the crust).

Then we shot for a few hours and stopped for birthday cake. This year it was a white cake with wild blueberries (last years, from the freezer) and lemon frosting.
It was one of the best protected cakes in the state. There were several Smith & Wessons, including an eight and three eighth inch M657, two Model 15 snubs, a 10mm M610, an AR with a Chiappa .22LR upper, and an M39/ Exotics included several subguns, including a Madsen and a Swedish "K", a .22 LR full auto rifle, and a suppressed .45 Para Ordnance
pistol.

We shot steel plates, steel .22 squirrels that dipped and then reset
themselves when hit, and a Texas Star. I'd never shot a Texas Star
before and found "leading" the targets something of a problem. When I
remembered to do it things were fine, when I didn't things were ugly...

Straggled home about seven, put guns away, and ate pizza that
we had delivered.

Today was a bridal shower for my daughter. I helped my wife get
the house ready a little then escaped to the woods when the party
really got going well. Two days of partying and eating my wife's party
dishes, wore me out. As tired I am, I'm still remembering a good time.

Wasn't my 610. But I have shot it before.

I wanted to shoot off on the plates against the friend who brought it using my 657, but somehow it didn't happen. Maybe he got out the suppressed Para about then...
