In the last 4 auto accidents, I have been in involved I was not at fault.

In fact, the only times I was faulted was because my master brake cylinder was failing causing a minor dent to someone's fender.

Always women on the phone.

In 3 months, I have been hit 2 times by women on cell phones.

This time side swiped by a woman on the phone while in a rental car.

I am driving a Kia Forte rental which I absolutely disdain because my Jeep Wrangler was rear ended by another woman on the phone while I was stopped at a red light.

In the past even on foot and on a university campus I was hit by a woman in a Expedition which nearly killed me. Had it not been for a fraternity brother seeing me lying in the street, the ambulance wouldn't have been called. She wouldn't have even called the ambulance because she was still on the phone!!!

GET OFF THE PHONE. CALL BACK LATER.

I see it everyday. Calls and texting.

Some people can't drive anyway let alone talk on the phone or text!

I drive the NYS Northway (I 87) a lot and I will guess that at least 40% of the people are obviously on the phone. You can see them holding the phone to their ear. How many more are texting, I do not know as those bozos hold the phone low. Yes I have had a few close calls as these idiots are more engrossed in their yakking than their driving!

Without a doubt the most violated V&T law in the state. (Even more than speeding) About the only time anyone gets a ticket for this is on the special occasions they have a campaign and they always announce their looking for cell phone abusers.

i always enjoy seeing the local and state police talking and texting while driving...i've seen it even after new texting while driving law.

Yeah, but I couldnt began to estimate how many cops I have seen driveing and talking on the cell phone either! If I see it all the rest of you must too!
How did the world opperate without cell phones a few years ago? Outside of advertisements and campaign calls I bet we dont get two legitment calls a week! We must not be popular! I still cant get used to seeing people driveing or walking around with a phone clipped to their ears. I am in awe! They must be important! That, or I aint got a life!

My dad told a story of back in the 30s or 40s when my folks ran a country general store. A local farmer came in and wanted to use the phone. Dad said sure and motioned him towards the phone. The farmer looked at it kind of bewildered, finaly picked it up and hollered, "When ya comeing ta pick up these cows?"

They're the only ones professional enough...

I've been watching walkers and bikers, lately. I've noticed that when they're on the phone they pay no attention to traffic. People who talk on the phone while driving claim it's no different than talking to someone next to you in the car. I have never seen someone walk in front of a moving truck because they were talkin to someone next to them. If you can't walk on the phone, please don't drive on the phone. Other people are at risk. If someone is talking to you from their car while your at home, please tell them to call when they get there and hang up on them. Don't be part of the problem.

That's why they make a hands free setup, I use mine for pressing calls and then no more than about 2 minutes at a time....common sense goes a long way.

Cell alone
phones are bad....but don't get me started on the idiots/women who are putting on their makeup with one hand AND talking on a cell phone.

I remember the time that if you saw/heard someone walking down the street carrying on a conversation with someone who wasn't there, you thought, schizophrenic. Now, as you say, it's evolved to thinking phone.

There is a "lady" who lives not far from me that I often see during my commute with her cell in her hand yacking away. It has been illegal in Nevada since January 1st. The things that frosts me is that she drives a Maserati Gran Tourismo, so either the car has Bluetooth that she cannot operate (or her phone is incompatible) or she is too bone idle (cheap?) to drive up to Best Buy and get a handsfree device.

My current car has Bluetooth but is not reliable when it comes to receiving calls using the in car controls. If I press the button on the phone it seems to work OK. Outgoing calls are fine. For my truck I have a Bluetooth earpiece, $19.99 from Target IIRC.

Just today at lunch.

I learned my lesson back in 1999. I was driving from NYC to the IBM research lab in Poughkeepsie, a 75 mile run up the Taconic I had done 100 times. One day I had to both drive AND be on a conference call. Now, I have driven about 1.2 million miles in my life with zero accidents and pay attention to driving.

Imagine my surprise when I cruised under the Welcome to Connecticut sign, not a normal part of that trip. No more phone and driving for me. If I missed that extremely well marked interchange, what else had I missed?

About 1½ years ago my Toyota Camry was totaled by a young guy doing something with his cell phone. Camry was parked on an "avenue" 4-5 cars wide. Guy drove straight into the rear of the Camry. No skid marks from an effort to stop. Dry pavement, sunny day. Totaled his car and mine. Knocked the Camry about 75 feet down the road. His mother took him to the hospital for minor injuries. No one in the Camry at the time of the accident.

Too many close calls and near misses with idiots driving and talking and texting to mention.

i like to watch the ones, who appear to be talking to themselves, with the blue tooth stuck in their ear. when i was a kid, if you saw someone like this, you went and grabed a net.

My sister's friend drove into another vehicle while talking on the phone. The guy she hit was the person who the major force in pushing the bill to stop phoning while driving in WA.

I pull along side people driving and talking on the phone and hit the horn - scares the be-jebbers out of them.

I have to say that here in Atlanta you're lucky if they are "just" on the phone. Here people have to do many daily functions while driving (maybe we are just that busy). We have to text, call, read newspapers, read directions, put on make-up, go though the briefcase, eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, read a book, watch a movie, play games on the ipad.

I was driving my big truck downtown one afternoon when a guy passed me. He was steering with his left knee only because he had his Blackberry in his left hand, a fork in his right, a PLATE of lunch on his right knee, and a newspaper opened up on the center console.

I just can't for the life of me figure out why they say Atlanta has some of the traffic in the country. We are some talented people.

A few years ago I was concerned that the horn on my truck was not loud enough. I popped into the local shop and the young kid at the counter asked me what I wanted. I told him: "A horn that spills coffee, smears make-up and causes cellphones to disappear under the passenger seat". Everybody under 35 who heard me looked grumpy, and most of the rest grinned and nodded.

The idea of NOT answering a call or not calling when you think of it because you are already busy driving are alien concepts to a large chunk of the population. Sad to report though that when driving around mid-morning a few weeks ago, the worst offenders were all 40+!!!!

It is true - there are idiots in all age brackets!!!

Cellphones are like firearms (& cars): it's not the fault of the cellphone being used but the idiot using it while driving. If these same idiots weren't on their phone they still wouldn't drive any better but rather would just find something else to distract them.

You should still be grabbing that net.

The feds passed law this year the truck drivers not using a hands free devise when on the phone. Can face a $2750.00 fine and loss of CDL. Messed up thing is most big truck wrecks aren't from the truck driver being on the phone.

Your view of cell phone yacking and texters takes on a different shade when you are sitting on a motorcycle.

All of us occasionally do something stupid behind the wheel, but cell phone talkers and texters do something stupid every time they drive!

My department has a very strict policy about cellphones and driving....you dont do it...unless it in reference to an identified emergency
