Default Hairy situation ...

With increasing frequency, I am finding "news" stories that leave me shaking my head in disbelief. If mankind hasn't jumped the shark yet, it's darn close.

This particular gem hit home as I still have friends in the mentioned area. The hipster scene has taken over there, and is unrelenting. But really ... $8,000 + for beard enhancement? People don't have better things to do with that kind of money? (from Fox News . com)

Seems like a lot of money for such a wimpy beard. For $8,000 I better come out of that doctors office looking like a member of ZZ Top.

Jeeze, I could get $8500 for what I shed off my back in a week?
I'll go $4900, AND throw in a large tube of super glue.

Imagine the postal inspectors when they look in that box.

To think I started using an old fashioned safety razor for a closer shave! I'm really behind the times…

A straight razor is next.

You only live once. Who am I to say how another person should live their life or spend their money.

You have to recognize that anyone thinking that they know better or, know what or know best it is merely a trick of the ego that allows one to fell better about themselves.....for about two minutes. An ego boost.

BTW how you like my new beard? And where should I send my bill?

Used to grow a beard every winter. Great way to keep your face warm when the temps drop. Boss used to get ticked off when the fuzz started to be noticeable. said I had to shave it off as I was part of the fire brigade??. Funny all the fire's I took part in no one but me showed up. Think it had to do something with his being a marine and me being a sailor. Frank

I grew mine for free about 35 years ago, and have to use a trimmer to keep it neat about e/o week. I personally think the scraggly ones look disgusting. Mine is about like what Sean Connery used to wear, and I'm just as bald as him also. But no, I won't be mistaken for him, and I like scotch, not martini's.

Hipsters pay a lot of money to look like they're poor. Most are college white kids who have daddy's money. I'm curious how the adult hipsters make a living. Something must pay well when you can hang out at a bar and drink all day in Richmond.

On a related note, ZZ Top is my favorite band, narrowly edging out CCR

I had a full beard the entire time my wife and I dated, and in fact we had been married several years before she ever saw me clean shaven. (She said if she had known I was so darn ugly, she wouldn't have married me. ) I haven't worn a beard in many years, and now that I'm retired my wife keeps asking me to grow one...but it's solid white and I don't like the look of it. Plus, I can never get past a few days...my face itches.

I love being clean shaven...I probably would pay $8,000 (if I had a spare $8,000 that I wasn't going to spend on guns) to have my beard permanently removed...but I sure wouldn't pay to have what I shave off every day (or so.)
