Hernia
I've just been released from a 3 day stint in the hospital. Well, I've already showered and put on clean clothes. Not much hurts worse than a strangulated hernia. I was trapped in my bedroom, unable to move, until my wife got home to call EMS. My phone was in the other room, and as tough as I think I am, I was unable to walk or crawl to the other room to get it. I simply passed out when I made any attempt to relocate. It should be fixed now, but those who know the pain know that I have a whole new reference for pain. I would have taken care of the hernia before it came to that, but my doctors didn't want to fix it until absolutely necessary, because of my liver problems. Any one out there putting off a hernia operation, stop putting it off. Trust me.

BTDT, same reaction, out like a light. I was working on a paper trimmer press, was in the midst of loading it, picked up the load of paper to transfer by hand to the inlet side and came to in the hospital. You have my smypathy.

Hernia
In 2007 I had a large aortic aneurysm that had to be fixed, they made a large Y shaped stent and cut both sides to install it and I got along fine for about a year and a half then I started having a kind of catch in my lower left groin area I had to have another scan and I had them look for anything that might be causing this, the person that read the info said "You have 2 equavernial hernias" this was where they cut through to put the stents in. The Dr. says we can fix it but it my not help, I says well I can put up with it and have for 3 years BUT I can hardly get my leg over the seat on my R75/6 motorcyle and I have gotten a sort of limp so it dosent hurt so much when I walk. I can put up with it so long as it dosent get worse. Jeff

Not sure where your hernia was (Inguinal, ventral, etc) but I bet three days in the hospital wasn't a box of chocolates. The only advice I can give is to keep your fluid intake at a higher level and to take a walk a few times a day (keeps the muscles from getting stiff and helps to ward off constipation). The caviat to walking is that wherever you walk to, remember that you have to get back home. Don't go too far at first. Listen to your body. If you need pain meds, take them...if not, leave them alone. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Good luck! Just goes to show that we need a phone in every room. Especially those of us who have no wife to come home to the rescue!
