Smile Accidental Discovery

I put a scope on my AR-15.
I could see the target clearly but the cross hairs were doubled and blurry
-OR-
I could see the cross hairs clearly but the target would be a blob.

Got home from the range and cleaned the gun. I also noticed a smudge on the scope front lens. Cleaned it up and voila - Clear target & Clear cross hairs

A few days later, back at the range, I was back to one or the other being clear while the other was a fuzzy blur

Back home again - cleaned the rifle - looked through the scope and - low and behold - Both were clear again --- What in the world?

I then noticed that I had my *computer glasses* on instead of my regular tri-focals. Put the tri-focals on and the problem reappeared

YES!

Guess what I'm wearing to the range next time

Default CHECK the eyepiece focus on your scope.

CHECK the eyepiece focus on your scope. Sounds like it needs adjustment. Reticle and target should both be in focus at same optical plane/distance. That i what the eyepiece focus adjustment is for.

I googled for scope adjustment instructions. Link below was returned near top of list.

http://www.bushnell.com/manuals/rifl...Riflescope.pdf

Google for instructions related to YOUR scope. (brand / model / etc.)

Thanks for the idea - Unfortunately I've already tried to get them in the same plane -- With my regular glasses there's no way, but with the computer glasses everything just snaps into focus....

I can remember way back when my eyes would adjust automatically to different focal points. Now I need to modify my eyes accordingly. Yuk, almost 60 will do that to ya. Joe
