Default The older I get...

The older I get (55 now), the more I yearn for the firearms of my youth. I don't have a large collection like many of you, and what I do not have and believe I am going to seek out, are the familiar firearms of my youth. As I remember:

1911
Hi Power
Model 19-3?
Colt Woodsman
Colt Detective Special
Colt Python
Winchester Model 1894 30-30
Winchester Model 94 25-35
Krag-Jorgenson 30-40 Krag

etc...I don't even want to know how expensive this is going to be, but I've got some years left to achieve this. Gives me something to do.

You got plenty of time to fill your wish list. If I could go back 17 years (to 55), I'd be getting every Colt 1911 and SAA I could get my hands on, and forgo buying all those temporary "have to haves" that just take up safe space.

Colt Python
I wish you the best of luck on your list.

A friend of mine had a chance at a used Python years ago for $400 - $500. He said he doesn't remember the exact price.
He said it had a small dent on the barrel rib, so he walked away. Now that they go for well over $1000 even for a beat-up one, he still kicks himself for not buying it.

I am probably the opposite of you. In my younger days i bought "collectable" guns more than I do now. I do own a Luger and a Hopkins and Allen Blue Jacket, but most of what I own now are shooters. Lately, when a gun smiles at me I ask myself "what would i use it for?" I really don't need any more safe queens. Don't get me wrong, In no way am I putting anyone down who collects or acquires guns just because they like them. I did that for years.

I know of several guns on your list for sale. Happy hunting!

I definitely know what you mean. I am 61 now, and I think often about the guns I bought when I first got out of the Navy in 1973, to give myself a treat: a Colt 1911 (series 70), a Colt SAA, a Colt Python, and several S&W revolvers: 19, 27, 28, and 29. Then, as money needs arose (going to college) I sold them. I bought them new, and I suppose there wasn't anything collectible about them...but I wish I had found some way to hang onto them, and that I had them to this day. They sure would mean something to me!
