Default Young Stupidity...

When we were young and stupid(er), we used to drive the back roads of Woods Hole, MA with what. ever alcohol we could scrounge up and have a drink fest listening to the Stones Satisfaction or Louie Louie. Popped of theses disgusting licorice Sen Sens on the way home by 11. Boy were they grossly strong!
So we showed up home smashed, but our breath was good! Any one else do this.

Never listened to the Stones while drinking. Usually Lynyrd Skynyrd or ZZ Top.

The late senator from Mass was known to do something like that.

Guess I ain't the only one here with a couple years on my hide. Yeah I recall Sen-Sen. Tasted like strong licorice and would masked the smell of onions, booze, and smoke. Stones? Yeah listened on my Mini-Eight in my car. Tape was called HotRocks.

Thumbs up I remember, some of it a little foggy?

Few good buddies, old '56 chevy, "Southern Comfort", singing "Lonesome Blues", and the one too drunk to carry the tune had to drive.

Sen Sen tasted like licorice flavored soap to me. Didn't work either. I got popped when I got home several times after using and had to surrender the keys for a a few weeks.

I don't like black licorice and never drank alcohol to excess , especially before my 21st birthday, and most certainly did not operate a motor vehicle under the influence.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Well in high school we would get a bottle of wild turkey and go catfishing at the spill way. Never remember catching any cats but we would catch 2-3 pound rainbows on chicken livers. After we had a mess we would go park on the gravel road below my friends house and finish the bottle. I think we crawled into that house some mornings. And my friends father would immediately start fixing the trout with fried potatoes and onions. Yeah good times, and a lot simpler time.

I went to a US military boarding school in England. We were not supposed to leave the base but it was tiny and you could only go bowling so many times. Sometimes we would sneak off through the woods, buy beer or coolers, and sneak them into the dorm (WWII barracks). We would hide the smell with peanut butter and oranges. Never got caught, but I think my innocent smile and angel wings helped.

Physical Graffiti on the 8 amongst the pines and fill of Interama by the Intracoastal, beer, Jack and bonfires and Sen-Sen for the ride home.
Awful stuff that, but it cleared the sinuses.

Yeah, I know what you mean.....

I'd have to be drunk to listen to the Rolling Stones, too.

Didn't drink in high school, best friend was killed by a drunk. I learned to drink in the Air Force. I became very good at drinking. Got restricted to base for being taken into protective custody by the local police to many times, lost my privilege to buy beer on base. Drinking music was anything on the radio or juke box. When I was shipped to Vietnam I was on a small team; alcohol and drugs was a no go. learn responsibility.

Default Somebody said...

Somebody said that biting a wad of green pine needles would do the trick. We knew a guy that had a pine tree where he parked his car that was nearly devoid of needles.

With us it was Queen, Elton John, Deep Purple, The Who, Alice Cooper, Led Zepplin, John Lennon, ELP, etc.

Sen Sen - Yeah, remember it. Ate it once or twice, never used it as a breath deodorant.

The stupidest thing the Texas legislature ever did was lower the legal drinking age to 18. A senior in HS, I would show up for school hungover.

Like a lot of us, it's a wonder I survived.

Youth is wasted on the young.

I wasn't smart enough to try and cover my breath but would come home after my parents were in bed or try to walk straight past them if they were awake and go to my bedroom.
It was a different day back then with underage drinking and driving. I remember a bunch of us in the 60's being 15 and 16 got drunk on beer one guy's sister bought for us. We were in two cars and decided to go to a roller skating rink in the next town. Someone complained about us and the police came and checked everyone's IDs. I remember some of the 15 year olds using Boy Scout cards. They took all our names down and told us to go home and not to bring our drinking back in their town again. So we drove home drunk. That would never happen today as we'd all be locked up someplace until our parents got us and court later.
I did a lot of drinking and driving in those days too and got away with it for years. Finally did get caught with a burnt out head light and spent the night in the drunk tank and court, fines and restricted license later. Taught me a lesson and have not driven while drinking since. Pretty serious offense anymore.

Anyone sleep it off in front of the place they worked knowing that one of your co workers would wake you up in time to punch in? That was one thing about being young, you could work hung over and make it through the day.

Right now I can barely type this and can assure everyone I'm passing out in the big comfy chair here shortly.

Allman Brothers, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Montrose, Humble Pie, even The Moody Blues, all good drinking music in my day.
