Default Redfield Rebate

I noticed on Redfield's website that if you purchase a Redfield Revolution or Revenge scope between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, you can fill out the form from the website and get a $30 rebate. Of course, typical for my luck, I bought my Redfield on Sep. 26 and my LGS knew nothing about the rebate.

That's a good deal...

I have bought three Redfield "Revolution" 2 X 7 variable power scopes in the last two years, one for a CZ 452 .22 American, one each for CZ 527 rifle and carbine, .223 and 7.62 X 39 caliber. I paid $155 for each of them at my local gun shop...

They are great scopes, hold zero well, hold up to lots of use. Leupold bought Redfield a few years ago, and I have heard the Revolution is just a Leupold "Vari-X I" in a Redfield box.

So, you can potentially get a Leupold Vari-X I for $120 or so...

Depending on the type of LGS I see two possibilities.

1) Small shop with local owner - They might take your "old" receipt and give you a new one with proper date for rebate. ( Years ago I knew a shop that made this a regular practice. It did not cost them anything and created much GOOD WILL. )

2) Large Box store - Buy a second one and get receipt with correct date. Return this new one by using the "old" receipt for refund.

I like my Revolution, but I was under the impression that there were a few fewer lense coatings inside on the Refield vs. the VX1.

I think I'll pass on the Revenge.
