Default 19-2 Snubbie Outcome

I've got a thread about a 2.5" 19-2 I put on hold at LGS.
I fund my gun purchases by either windfall (unexpected) money or saving my Walking Around Money (WAM). Have a bit stashed, saw this 19-2, so decided to go for it and put it on hold.
Since then I bumped into a local older couple where the husband is having medical problems big time. They're wonderful people, very active in helping others. I know money is pretty tight for them, now she's driving down to Boston daily to be with him.
Thought popped into my head to get them some gas cards w/some of this money for the 19-2. I've got plenty of guns (my wife is never to hear this!) and the money would be put to better use.
Today I go to LGS to look at 19-2 again. Turns out my computer generated hold ticket stub is for a Barretta 92!! Don't know what happened, 19-2 is in hold locker w/another's name on it. I got upset (truth be told my fragile ego is somehow bruised, don't they know WHO they're dealing with?). Pursued the matter for a while before realizing this is the way it's supposed to work out.
This outcome gives me a bit of a nudge to help out the couple as I'd been considering. Guess I needed some help deciding.
Tks, Kevin

Kevin, as Iggy said, "good on ya." You did a selfless thing, in helping someone who needs a hand now.

Let me guess the 19-2 went into what I commonly call the black hole at that location. Over the last few years I seen many times now you see it now you don't. Send me a pm where I can send a gas card for the folks from home that are down on their luck. I keep my eye open, I've got a 19-3 nib I could probbly pass on to ya 4". Keep an eye on my place when your traveling by as my watch dog leaves for North Carolina tommrow.

The fact that you are going to help the couple who needs it, makes me glad that you missed out on the M19-2. Like Iggy said, someone had a hand in this deal. You may or may not ever get a M19-2, but helping those in need is a much greater reward. Thanks.

All things happen for a reason! When you do good to others, good will come to you. Now go clean a spot in the gun locker and see what happens?

Default 19-2 Final Outcome!

Today was a strange day.
At 0900 the manager of the LGS called me, other person that had the hold on the 19-2 was contacted and changed his mind. Manager was knocking off about $60, offering it to me for about $390 OTD because of the inconvienence I experienced. Not a big deal really as yesterday's wasted R/T to this LGS was close to 40miles plus my time. Never the less it was a nice gesture, I appreciated it. By the way, at this point mgr informs me 19-2 is really a 19-3, hard to read, fooled several. Ser # 8K87xxx, 1975?
Shortly after, "Bob1956" (see his post above) who's out of town, calls me to get the low-down. We chatted, he knows the couple I referred to. I hadn't seen his post, he told me he was up for giving the older couple some help. Cool!!
I go count the remaining pennies in my stash, find I've got sufficient $ for the gas cards and the mod 19.
Went up to the Irving gas station, got the gift cards. I knew no one was home at their house, filled the cards out to the couple from the GAS FAIRY and hung them on the doorknob. Hope that brings a smile. I was having fun.
Later went to the LGS, picked up the 19-2 oops, 19-3. Came home removed the grips, cylinder & yoke, and sideplate and proceeded to give it an exam and cleaning. Gun was a carry piece, rear sight leaf had the corners filed to a radius, nice, neat, not a hack job. Some blue loss and wear. Inards were pretty clean, a bit dry but OK. Cylinder/Yoke assembly showed signs of having been lubed properly. I don't see signs of a lot of firing, very little flame cutting in the topstrap, ejector star is not worn, still sharp.

Gun really looks much better than this photo.
Take Care, Kevin

Kevin,

I hope that 19 turns out to be the best mare in the herd for you. You deserve it and thanks for the great story. As Iggy said " good on ya."
