Default how to use otis cleaning system on revolver

bought the tactical kit and was trying to use it on a .22 revolver by inserting the flexable rod through the barrell and attaching the brush. When the brush is attached to the solid part (brass) of the rod AND the connection piece of the brush, it is longer than the crane opening? There is no way to get it through the breech of the bore without bending the brass parts. I see that they advertise for PISTOLS but say nothing about revolvers. Has anyone else made the assumption that the otis kit was made for revolvers?

The flexible rod sucks for revolvers. Suggest you get a couple of brass pistol rods from Brownells and leave the .22 brush and jag on them. I did.
Who needs to stick brass bristles in their fingers screwing various brushes off and on?

+1. A separate rod for brush, jag and loop works well for me.

I put quite a bit of .22 ammo through my M18 and it rarely ever sees a brass brush--maybe every few years if I get the notion. Such cleaning as it gets is confined to cleaning out the normal dried grease and grunge that accumulates frame and cylinder area. Essentially the same for pistols to include the old Colt .22 conversion unit for the 1911.

I think I have an Otis kit around here someplace, unless I gave it away. Fooled with it a time or two and was underwhelmed. On the rare occasion when I need a quick pull through of a wet or dry patch I use a length of .060 weedwhacker line with a small knot tied in the end.

22 ammo is lubed on the exterior, so it is benign re bbl getting dirty. Hence the colonel's approach.

Just a suggestion, not meant as criticism - quality cleaning equipment is inexpensive and works much better. You'll be pleased with it.
